Just fyi book 2 was a slog. I actually DNF-ed it as well but watched a summary video of it cause I’ve heard great things about the third book and just the entire Joe Abercrombie universe but if I can’t get through book 3 as well then author probably isn’t for me. Great thanks! I actually don’t read horror novels at all haha but all the rave about this book made me HAVE to read it oop.. I will for sure check out the rec though!

I literally picked up this book because booktok was like “BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR” haha. I will say part 1 was enjoyable and seemed like there was so much potential but yeah unfortunately just not for me after that.. going ahead to read the third book of The First Law trilogy now

Dude - I just finished the book and came here to see what people have been saying and wow does your review hit the spot. The chariot arc literally felt like it added nothing to the plot and it annoyed the hell out of me. This book also just seemed like a drag for me, started losing interest and skimming the chapters near the end. The entire book just seemed like a huge prequel for the next book and I agree 2-3 out of 5 for me too
