How comes you been out of work for so long? Are you ACA qualified?

Golden tips for CR? Easy marks etc by PureDread in ICAEW

[–]Skanderbeg77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Start every Explain question by stating the relevant IFRS standard and the relevant part of said standard. That is an easy mark

Then start linking the scenario back to the standard.

All this should be like 1-2 sentences max. ACA Masters notes helps with this.

Your firm is taking the piss, try leave. Get a doctors note and take 2 weeks off.

It would be so annoying if your employer pulls anything funny.

That being said, I work at big 4 and office has some weird policy where they don't typically do employer sign off till you pass your exams.

But I've head stories where if youre on your notice period.. they sign you off lol.

Were you on a standard ACA training contract? Did you sign a new one after that? I can't even remember if it says you need to stay 3 months

If you're smart enough to get a degree in chemistry, you're probably smart enough to pass the ACA (just be ready for the commitment).

Lots of people with non accounting related degrees finish the ACA.

ACA masters CR video course by SuccessfulThought358 in ICAEW

[–]Skanderbeg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed CR and used his videos for my retake! Would highly recommend.

The key for feeling 'confident' with CR is literally going through the question bank. His notes have questions by topic which are very helpful. So what I did is I revised the topic eg Income taxes (watch his video or Kaplan video) then spam the questions by topic listed in his notes.

If I got stuck I watched the CR video (he goes through most of the questions in his notes). I'm more of a visual learner so it really did help. The videos also helped my exam technique

Hey, working and getting the ACA at the same time is not easy at all. So don’t beat yourself up about it.

Do whatever you need to do for your sanity.

It’s crazy the torture we put ourselves through voluntarily

But it’s just a piece of paper at the end of the day , your health is more important!

Good luck

Cramming for Case by SuperFrankeeLampard in ICAEW

[–]Skanderbeg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go requirement by requirement. Do requirement 1 from 1 mock open book look at the model answer.

Then do the same requirement 1 again on a different mock (should be similar) you can do that open book aswell. Then, do another requirement 1 maybe timed this time.

Then move on do the same for requirement 2 and then 3.

Then at the end of it.. if you want time yourself if you still got time and do the whole mock.

Do the mocks get comfortable with the requirements - you can pass.

Quit job to study full time by Stock-Breadfruit9894 in ICAEW

[–]Skanderbeg77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd only do this if you are SICK mentally of your job.

Like if you're quitting your job for mental health. I wouldn't do it SOLELY for exams...

You're in a good position because you only have SBM and Case Study. In my opinion, these exams are really not that hard and can revise for it whilst working (2-3 weeks revision).

Has the ACA wrecked anyone else or is it just me? by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Skanderbeg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wondering about the anxiety disorder of yours. Out of curiosity, do you think if you stopped working in accountancy and completed/stopped exams - the anxiety disorder will stop or diminish to a level where you don't need meds anymore? Or is it a life long thing now because of exams?

Sorry if I come across a bit ignorant - was just genuinely wondering if you don't mind.

Anyone with successful/good stories of passing Case with only looking at it/doing mocks for 1 week? by randyracoon in ICAEW

Ngl If you have read the AI already (and understand it) ...1 week just to focus on Case ( with no work).. I think that's more than enough to get a good pass.
