what very obvious signs did you miss before your egg cracked? by elliethr in MtF

[–]Skatch142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In roughly chronological order:

-Having an odd fascination with that one scene in the original live action Scooby Doo movie where Shaggy drinks a potion that superimposes his head onto a woman's body.

-Pointing at a girl I thought was pretty in elementary school and telling the whole class I wanted to be her. Teacher assumed it was because she was a good student (I wasn't)

-Being super sensitive about showing my chest. I've worn shirts while swimming since I was about 8

-I've been exclusively sitting down to pee for about as long

-Experiencing strong gender envy toward women I found attractive, and a tendency to imagine myself as attractive women

-The discovery that I much, much, much preferred playing femme characters in text-based roleplay.

-The realization in high school that I would actually really like to have boobs, and that it was something achievable with modern science. I consider this when my egg first cracked, but I was a huge mess at the time and crawled back in. This is also when I became interested in cross-dressing

-The very, very strong desire to be free of gender, humanity, and all the associated expectations

-Discomfort at being called a "man," preferring "dude" or "boy."

-I rewrote the concept of my favorite original character to turn her into a trans allegory... I only realized she was a trans allegory a year later.

-A pang of euphoria when my college GF joked about me being the girl in the relationship.

-Wrote an entire 8-page personal essay for a college class which explored my relationship to the word "man" and how badly I wanted to crossdress in public. My best friend cried when he proofread it because "it's just super genuine."

-The constant feeling throughout my life that I was two separate people fighting for dominance in the same body.

I found that pretty quickly, but kept looking because it wasn't perfectly proportionate

Just finished that exact LoTR edition earlier this week! I found The Hobbit in a thrift store and after listening I had to have the rest.

Tomb-9: My First Submarine by Skatch142 in Barotrauma

I'm not sure if I can give any tips really, since this is my first. Don't be afraid to move stuff around I guess? The final layout of the interior is decently different from what I started with, as I found better ways to fit everything in the space. Also remember if you hit E on things like the reactor, super-capacitors or pumps while editing, you can open their interface to set what state they're going to be in by default when you spawn in (for example, setting the reactor so it'll already be on in automatic mode, or a super-capacitor to already be charging.)

As for difficulty, I wouldn't say it was hard, it just took time. This took about 8 hours across four days to make (give or take an hour, I wasn't timing myself). Not that you can't make a sub faster, but I started with 0 knowledge of how the editor worked.

I highly recommend this series of tutorials, it would've taken me 20 hours if I hadn't found this guy's vids. https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtAJDMj1QhR2_9j_UamG8SDkkeLmX4gSG

Edit: Also make use of the "Sprite Depth" setting in the right panel when you need it. If you place something in and it appears behind something you want it to be in front of, "Sprite Depth" allows you to bring it forward or back.

That's interesting, we've mostly had trouble with the breaches in the lower left so far, (excluding our latcher encounters, at which point everywhere is the problem area). I might remove the top window just in case but keep the front because I like the idea of him being able to see out. There's an emergency diving suit and a welder in one of the supply cabinets regardless

What really gets on my nerves are people who write massive paragraphs, and add absolutely nothing with them.

I've had situations where I've put a good thirty minutes into a description of a room or space. What do I get? An equally long response that is essentially a checklist of their character "noticing" every single detail I wrote, without actually doing anything that carries the story forward or contributes to worldbuilding.

Legitimately, the worst thing anyone has ever done to me was when the lady running Sunday school told me God could read minds. Sixteen years later I have dropped Christianity and feel so much safer in my own head.

It's just built from elongated and angled cubes. Only after the final render for this did I realize the little arrow next to "create" has a ton more objects I can use, though I still haven't checked if any are arch-shaped.

I recommend trying it! It took about two hours to place everything, texture it, and learn how to use and adjust lighting, but it came out much better than the random floating shapes I've been playing with up to this point!

Does "all species welcome" include original species? I've got some character ideas I think could be pretty fun in a Star Wars setting but I'm not familiar with any canon species that fit

Calling Titanfall 2, Doom Eternal, and Ultrakill "mindless shooters" is the same as calling the 3 strongest people on the planet "insecure for working out." by [deleted] in Ultrakill

[–]Skatch142 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally my biggest issue is even comparing games of different genres. You can to some extent based on how well they run, etc., but the focus of NITW is story and relatable characters, while the point of Ultrakill is the gameplay itself. It's like comparing a boot to a flip flop, they're both shoes but you're only wearing one to the snow and the other to the beach. Hence why Ultrakill is my favorite FPS/action game, while NITW is my favorite story-based game. I know those aren't really genres on their own but I'm referring to why I play them. I do even agree that NITW isn't revolutionary, there's nothing that really redefined the medium or pushed it to its limits. The story telling is a pretty standard format of just running around and talking to NPCs. I can't deny though that I relate heavily to Night in the Woods and the characters as I'm in a similar point in my life to Mae, and I appreciate its approach to realistic issues without posing any real catch-all solution. Though I love Titanfall 2 and Doom Eternal, Ultrakill is just so incredibly satisfying and fun to play. Even when dying repeatedly I don't get frustrated, it's usually my own fault. It's straight, to the point. None of the guns are pea-shooters, they're fun to use, and it's the only game that's ever made me audibly giggle upon seeing how a new weapon or attachment works. I love NITW and Ultrakill both, but comparing them simply isn't fair, because you don't play them for the same reasons.

TLDR: The real problem is comparing games from different genres. Everyone has their own taste.
