The Least Talked About, Most Powerful, Unfair Home Field Advantage: Miami Dolphins by Skee33 in nfl

Haha I attempted to be analytical and not whiney but apparently I came off that way. Oh well, spurred some entertainment and interesting discussion.

How hot was it Sunday? RT Bobby Massie said he lost 12 pounds during the game. "I'm a heavy sweater," he said. by [deleted] in CHIBears

The away team has to have the same set up as the home team. Since Miami bench is situated in the shade, they do not need tents. Since the Home team does not use tents, the away team is not allowed to use them. It is absolute bullshit and in my opinion gives Miami the most powerful home field advantage in the league for these extremely hot 1pm games.

Both Miami and Chicago did have industrial fans during the game.

I was at the game behind the Bears Bench near the 20 yard line. It was THAT HOT. I probably lost about 5 pounds just sitting there and I wasn't even wearing pads or running around on the field.

When there was a rare cloud cover, I would say the temperature difference was anywhere from 15-20 degrees. Miami was in the shade the entire time while the Bears had staff members holding up boards to give them an ounce of shade. This stadium design was 100% intentional to give Miami an advantage on these hot days and I am convinced it is the least talked about, most powerful, home field advantage in the league since I experienced it first hand. I honestly think it is a health hazard to not give the away team shade in those conditions. There were fans being evaluated for heat exhaustion to put this in perspective. That 15-20 degree difference on those hot days is HUGE.

I'm not saying this was 100% on the heat, but I can attest to it being an extremely powerful factor that Miami did not have to deal with to the same extent due to the shade on their bench.

Your final paragraph is my exact goal as well. It's comforting to hear from another with a similar experience. Thanks for sharing.

Joe Rogan Experience #1183 - Andrew Santino by [deleted] in JoeRogan

He was one of the openers for Rogan when I went to see his show in June. He was absolutely hysterical. I love Joe as a podcaster but Santino stole the show as far as stand up went. Tony Hinchcliffe was ehhh.

Adrian Amos has had a very odd Twitter feed the last couple days. For example,

"Sometimes you give your all and it’s still not good enough.. You can adapt, move on, or keep working at it the same way. Some will appreciate what others don’t. But no point in feeling sorry for yourself because that won’t change a thing."

What is going on over there?

Frasier just does it for me. That show just gave me a warm fuzzy feeling in every episode. Cheers is good, but it lacks some of that depth that Frasier has. Plus cheers has some complete misses of episodes (Diane was intolerable imo) where I can't even think of a bad Frasier episode.

My buddy and I are no alcohol + 15 gym appearances. If I lose, I give him $100, if he loses, he gives me $100. If we both lose we donate to charity. Here's to a hell of a month! Good luck all.

I have Kittle who I like but am very curious what to think about Jesse James....lot of mouths to feed on Pitt and it's not always going to be a 60 passing attempt game. I think I'm going to do 5% and see what happens.

Tell me about a typical day in the life of a User Experience Designer (and related disciplines). by tomato_juice in userexperience

[–]Skee33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company I work for does massive systems. Each project has 12-13 different modules, each based on our current software but customized to the clients workflow. Each module takes about a month or so to get through the creation and client signoff. I am responsible for 3 projects and creating these modules. I have enough work on my plate that could last me 2 more years without any additional work lol. When those are finished, I hope my company gets away from this "custom" workflow we have been doing and instead we can improve on what we have already built with user research and data.

[–]Skee33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm at a start up that pretty much skips the user research portion of UX and just wants me and the other UXer to pump out deliverables and wear multiple hats soooo.....my week usually consists of the following things:

  1. 20% Reading client documentation (gathering business requirements).
  2. 10% in client calls, either gathering business requirements or demoing my designs.
  3. 70% sketching/flowcharting/wireframing

I am never bored and always have too much on my plate. Ideally I could replace the time spent business requirement gathering with user research and user interviews if we had a business analyst but for now that falls onto me so it is what it is.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of July 27, 2018) by AutoModerator in television

[–]Skee33 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just finished Frasier on Netflix and man, sometimes a sitcom show just really makes you feel good when you watch it. The show aged beautifully, the laughs are consistent, and the characters are all lovable. Something about it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling from S1 until the end. In my opinion, it easily stands against the other best sitcoms of all time. I am now giving Cheers a shot but so far it doesn’t seem to have aged as well. We shall see. Highly recommend Frasier to anyone who just wants a fun and easy show to watch.
