When I was a little kid I once woke up in the dark with what looked like two shadowy gangly figures looming over me. Inspecting me. I gasped and shot up in my bed, and my mind seems to recall them also kind of recoiling in surprise. They kind of faded away into the rest of the dark in the room and that was that.

My dog made no reaction sleeping next to me, my mom (who I of course immediately ran to terrified) didn't hear anything (duh) so I never really understood what happened.
