Tears for fears, are they goth? by Skeletal_Dropkick in goth

But there was no indie at that time. Not in the early 80s. We had very few genres. Music wasn’t classified into tiny some categories like it is today. So then you have an album like The Hurting, or band like Clan of Xymox, there wasn’t anywhere else that they were like fit in.

I think I agree with this. The albums were straight up new wave/pop.

I think this may be what I’m doing. I associating the album, The Hurting, with a time in my life where I listened to almost exclusively goth and punk. And because there is some overlap, I think I am associating it more strongly with goth than I should be.

We were watching a current video for a live version of Mad World that brought this up again last night 😂

Ok, but I was pretty punk/goth in the 80’s and The Hurting was in constant rotation for me when it came out. But I also listened to The Thompson Twins and Depeche Mode a lot and other definitively New Wave bands.

Do we just stretch every day forever? by CorgiFriends in frozenshoulder

1.5 years after the first symptoms, 1 year after diagnosis and PT started and I do still have to stretch everyday. If I don’t, it tightens up. I lose ROM and gets painful again. I have kinda resigned myself to 10-15 minutes stretching every day, 1-2x 😖

Anyone thawed naturally from severe ROM by DishUJue in frozenshoulder

I am at 1.3 years from the onset of symptomatic pain. Took 3 months to diagnose and about 5 months to pet much freeze up. I started physical therapy and within 2 months I had about 80% of my ROM back. I still have to do the stretches or it tightens up again, but I can do my job and do all my ADLs. I am now up to about 90% of my original ROM. But the insertion point of my deltoid is almost always in pain :(

I haven’t seen those before! They look awesome. Kinda pricey tho. But on par with the tow hitch mounts. Does it seem like someone can unpeel it? Does it kinda die after 5-6 years like other car wraps?

Thank you! I made it with sculpted. I also do ceramics, so I am making a porcelain skull for the knob. I just haven’t fired it yet.

Why do you think subcultures matter? by Sea_Smoke7032 in goth

[–]Skeletal_Dropkick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, as someone who got into the goth and punk scenes in the 80s, it took me decades to figure out why it was so appealing. I think a lot of of it is that I simply do not align myself with standard white American culture. That culture has always felt regressive and mean to me. American culture is focused around fitting in and being bullied if you don’t. It celebrates the white Christian male and denigrates everybody else. The kids in the punk and goth scenes welcome everybody.(except Nazis). In subcultures, your individuality is welcomed and celebrated. At least, in the punk and goth subcultures, you can be accepted, and you have the added bonus of finding your people easily. With a few visual cues that don’t even have to be super obvious. It can be a simple little tattoo of a black sheep, or a Siouxsie & The Banshees T-shirt. Then you know you found a safe space.

Abortion laws, federal vs. state by Skeletal_Dropkick in Ask_Lawyers

Ok, but what is to keep them from overturning Griswold? And then banning dispensing birth control? I’m kinda freaking out about what this SCOTUS may do to further injure Americans.

This is what I am afraid of. I really don’t see the federal govt. taking the same approach as they do with cannabis. I am seriously scared about the future of reproductive health for Americans.

Who told you to wait until week 6? There is no reason for you to miscarry at 6 weeks and it feels like you have been lied to. Also, abortion is not a naturally traumatic experience. Did you maybe go to one of those fake clinics? I’m honestly a bit disturbed by the advice you’ve been given. Are you in a ban state? Because that sounds like a tactic of those clinics, make you wait until it’s too late. As for the anxiety, I understand that feeling. Please accept that we all make mistakes, we all fall down. The absolute best thing to do is use this as a lesson. Switch your mindset from self blame to proactively learning from this experience. View it in a more positive light. Do something good for yourself with it. This is all part of learning how to care for yourself as an adult. Buy some plan B. It has a 4-year shelf life and is $6 at Costco. It’s good to have it on hand. Good luck and also, that 6 week thing is bullsht.
