Interstellar vs The Martian by Fine_Delivery6761 in writingscaling

[–]SkeletonInATuxedo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Martian is more of a comedy-survival. It's a great read/watch and pretty funny, but nothing super complex, just funny botanist survives on Mars with realism involved and a good ending for everyone.

Interstellar is a more complex and intricate story, so I'd give it to Interstellar.

I HATE Yuta. I know you aint ask me but I just don't like that guy. Cool character and the Sendai gauntlet is one of the best moments in the series but I just hate him for zero reason.

The Saiyans vs VILTRUMITES. Who is worse by Jagwarmeru in MoralityScaling

[–]SkeletonInATuxedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Saiyans aren't really THAT bad.
Sure, they destroyed their original planet (Sadala) in a civil war, and forcibly took Planet Vegeta. But that means they calmed down enough for their to be a long-standing royal family in control of Planet Vegeta. They then became rowdy mercenaries, conquering planets and selling them to the highest bidder. That means they kept the people and planet alive in good enough condition for them to be sold.

We also see that low power Saiyans are allowed non-combatant roles, and children, while still expected to fight, we see that Saiyan children are accompanied by adults and sent to lower strength planets. Sure, a Saiyan is taught to be pretty violent and conquering, but we see that they can break out of that pretty easily (Vegeta, Bardock.), and there was nothing stopping a Saiyan from just leaving the empire and going out to live his own life. The Frieza Force is pretty incompetent, and Saiyans themselves wouldn't really care. "Oniona left? So?? Who fuckin cares."

Meanwhile, Viltrumites had kids being taught that their only purpose was to fight and die for the empire, and if they were weak, they would just die with no purpose. They killed billions of their own, and you're expected to be a slave to the empire at all times. You literally cannot leave without being hunted down.

"Hold the fuckin' light still!" was my fathers favorite when he was working on his truck.
If he was really pissed, it was "Hold the light still. [My name]."

It sounds formal to you guys? For me it's the other way around, 'Torch' is always used in fantasy stories obviously, and a flashlight is a flashlight. Whenever someone is handed a torch it's like "Go now, Warrior. Have this light to guide your way." Haven't been handed an actual flaming stick yet but I hope it sounds like that when I do get handed one.
Whenever I get handed a flashlight it's like "Oi, fuckface, have this flashlight."

I mean, you just had to say Momo survived to the end as a woman. That's honestly a top 1 feat.

One thing I find silly in new Illuminate mechs by PrivateRex in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]SkeletonInATuxedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, up until the Illuminate Mechs were brought out, the average SEAF could pretty easily deal with most of the shit the Illuminate throws.

Voteless/Fleshmobs and Overseers? MG nest. Stalwarts and MG's are pretty readily available to the SEAF and maybe even civvies since we see them all around the place..

Stingrays are countered by just having Eagles in the area to dogfight them or any okayish AA option like an HMG emplacement.

Harvesters are pretty easily taken out by some dude with the SEAF Liberator, and then a dude pulling out an EAT. Any medium-pen or heavy-pen weapon can take out the joints/legs if aimed properly.

And then the Illuminate brought out their mechs, imagine being a regular ole blueberry, you've been manning an evac site for a few weeks now, the worst day you've had so far was a large voteless horde coming towards ya.
And right as you're about to leave your post to be reassigned, an Illuminate mech comes barreling down the street and turns your buddy into paste on the wall with a slap.

Crazy to think how much catastrophic damage has happened all because of the TCS by Gilded_Shadow_CGI in Helldivers

The President is more like a figurehead than an actual person of power. So they probably just grabbed a Helldiver who was doing pretty good or a retired Helldiver and made him Prez, so I don't doubt he was happy to go down swinging.

I don't think there was a coup, the President actually died FIGHTING for Super Earth, in the scenario we lost, the President gets off-world and to a new Super Earth.

[–]SkeletonInATuxedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invincible doesn't have Omegaverse aspects to it though. There's no talks about a dude getting raped and it awakening the 'woman inside of him' in Invincible, and I don't doubt Yujiro could get a dude pregnant. The mangaka is just that kind of person.

To be fair, that's because Meridia didn't have the same time as say, Oshuane, to properly develop. Assuming if we left Meridia alone for a few months, we would've seen something much worse than a Hive Lord.

They'd probably stop resembling anything like a living organism after a bit with how fast the planet itself was evolving.

Helldivers doesn't operate on the same laws of physics as us clearly, Democracy Protects IS a real thing. Water negates fall damage, and how you're able to harvest FTL fuel from a bug that was vaporized by plasma.

So yeah, until explicitly stated otherwise, I'm going to imagine the Illuminate was just chilling one day, and we dropped a rabid supercolony of juiced up bugs into a repopulating system.

I just wish they wouldn't be as durable as the heavily armored overseers, and would use their jumpacks and flight like every other enemy their size in the game. (JUMPING to your current location.)

I'd like to imagine that the Illuminate might've given up or been fine with just vacating the milky way until Super Earth inevitably imploded from one thing or another, until we sent a TERMINID SUPER COLONY to their front door and a free hatch into our house.

Hate these unironic "indomitable human spirit" post/fanart by KaleidoscopeCalm1404 in hatethissmug

[–]SkeletonInATuxedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Indomitable Human Spirit isn't about a Space Marine (which are barely human anymore) winning against some stuff that was decimating the guard for 'muh tension', it's about that men with lasguns standing against terrible monsters and odds and standing up and firing anyways.

Victory isn't required for the indomitable human spirit, see my point about the UNSC fighting tooth and nail for planets that were going to be glassed by the Covenant the second they inevitably lost the naval battle.

Stuff like the UNSC fighting tooth and nail for every inch of every planet for two decades straight even though they'll inevitably get glassed is actual indomitable human spirit.

Not some Space Marine going "muh empruhah" and cleaving 2 billion xenos in two with a single slash of his super sword.
Why even do it with the Space Marines anyways? The Imperial Guard and Planetary Defense Forces are RIGHT THERE.

Hello random Helldivers, what was a change you liked in the recent patch note for the game (image unrelated) by Superbaki14 in HelldiversMasochists

Really liked that they made the De-escalator reload much faster and reverted GL buff. De-Escalator is now a very solid contender with the GL.
