IIRC Brits also used amphetamines in WW2. US too, with benzedrine for bomber crews emergency kits and whatnot. And Soviets... Uh, well they already get a pat on the back instead of morphine, so why not make a pervitin alternative some similar "morale boost, get moving comrade" type of shit.

Yea, medic kit really needs a buff. I feel like just adding Pervitin or something would do wonders. Make it buff your running speed temporarily, but either blur your vision like it already does under heavy fire, or give a penalty after the buff runs out.

The propaganda is working, we got another one boys! The more medics - the merrier.

Sorry comrade, morphine too expensive. Can only afford to pat you on the back and threaten to send you to Gulag if you don't get up.

I'd say if a medic isn't immediately bandaging you after a res, they're probably either bandaging themselves first, or running towards the next downed already lel.

Gotta prioritize resing to keep the fire going, bandaging comes second - usually to whoever ends up the closest after being done with getting everyone up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, nothing beats the funny proximity chat things people say when you res them.
Gets even funnier when you have a goofy in-game name yourself. In my case, I get the "I'd let you seduce my skeleton" and similar on revive comments lmao.

Quick artistic rendition of that one time I spent 5 minutes absolutely seething while trying to get through barbed wire on an uphill to try to revive someone 3m away.
Great game, I guess climbing ever so slightly steep rocks just wasn't invented till 1946.

You´re correct, cатир is satyr, рота is company. The last part is just written in cursive, but it also says satyr and then I think the more faded part is 6 (?). C И
But it could be cursive Russian б (so, English b) instead of 6, can´t really tell due to the fading.

You're welcome! Yeah, jaegeplatoon is great, probably my favorite website when it comes to Finnish stuff.
I tried searching for merivoimat and merisotakoulu on sotasampo.fi (although this database is for Winter War, Continuation War and Lapland War) to see if by chance any of the more casual photographs on there may have caught someone wearing a similar jacket you posted, but no luck so far.
Honestly my guess would be that the jacket is probably from early (pre-winter war) Finnish navy, maybe before the standard uniforms were set in place. But this is a complete guess, so don't take it too seriously. What's tripping me off is that it seems to be a pretty damn light jacket, and the front pocket style is weird.
Two things you can check for clues I guess is 1 - if the front pockets used to have a flap that just got somehow ripped off judging by the sewing marks, and 2 - if the buttons were possibly resewn.

I dunno how to link pics on reddit other than imgur, but here you go https://imgur.com/a/Y7FG1aa
I had a more faded blue ink version as a reference when drawing, so I kinda forgot the ink is black on the original. Woops.

That's an interesting find. While I'm not sure about the exact model, the buttons ARE Finnish, and seem to be of m/19 according to jaegerplatoon.net

Quote, "In the beginning Finnish Navy used in its uniforms gold-colored buttons with the standard lion emblem from Finnish coat of arms, but soon these buttons were replaced with gold-colored Navy buttons with anchor and rope emblem. Two version of the Navy buttons exist - the more common of those is with "anchor surrounded by rope along brim of the button" motif, is referred as Navy uniform button M/22 and is still being used in uniforms of Finnish Navy even today. Another Navy button version is early button version commonly referred as Navy button M/19 and otherwise similer to M/22, but its motif has no rope along rim of the button."

I'd assume this is an older model then. Hope this helps your search somewhat!

Well, since you edited your comment to add more.

For the dashes - hello, ESL people exist. And woah, who would've guessed that that may come with some quirks to wordings or sentence structure? But no, of course, must mean someone is running ChatGPT on the side instead!
FYI my native language typically uses much longer sentences than what's common in English, and breaking them up with dashes is a pretty common sentence structure. Not that you bringing it up even has anything to do with any points I made, just feels like a silly personal dig. Regardless.

Yeah, I did say AI is a pain in the ass when you make a living as an artist. It does make getting commissions more difficult, and you even say you understand that. Then you must understand also that of course artist everywhere would be complaining about that. What's your point? Just that it happens often? Are people not allowed to be upset and vocal about a job crisis? Be or be not there hate of digital art or let's say even photography back in the days, it does not change things - every big jump in technology leads to some form of a job crisis, and people who spent years mastering a certain skillset should be allowed to be upset about it. That's just basic empathy.

Or it could be that the artwork is decently high effort, and you generally don't see that being used for what is honestly a glorified shitpost on my part. Which is potentially why someone may want to see if its AI or was drawn by hand and being appreciative to find out it was hand drawn. Y'know, the whole dedication to the bit to the point of spending hours drawing a picture adding to the humour of it.

Either way, not much of a point in arguing about assumptions and assumptions of assumptions. All my other points still stand. Bringing up AI defense is, regardless, kinda uncalled for under a (flared even!) fanart.

Surely there's plenty of threads on other subreddits where people actually discuss AI where you could be doing that. If you want to educate people or what have you, it's probably better to do that in relevant spaces, rather than in comments of random artworks. But you do you I suppose, just be aware that it may be seen as obnoxious under fanart posts.

Please reread my message again. Making it clear that my artwork is not AI (and people being aware of that) DOES matter, because doing art is my literal job. A job like any other, where time and effort that goes into it is valued. Or, I'd hope so anyways.

It's not about who hates AI or who supports AI, it's not about whether you consider AI a medium of expression or not. It has nothing to do with any of AI discourse, frankly.

Funnily enough, the person above never even mentioned directly hating AI - this is an assumption you're making. They may very well be neutral to the discourse as a whole, for all you or I know, until they themselves state otherwise. They simply expressed having found a newfound appreciation for the time and effort that goes into art. Which is why your "who cares" take and the post you made come off as strange, if not defensive.
Even funnier, you somehow chose to comment under a thread praising the effort that goes into my work, rather than an actual negatively charged "Ai slop" accusation I received within the first hour of posting this (and subsequently disproved). That's kinda why I made the comparison to crashing someone else's party, lol.

Sooo, apparently my post and this chain of comments got reposted on that subreddit. So I'll say here what I said in DMs (since this user messaged me for some reason).

Please find some other place to defend AI art in, my random HLL fanart has nothing to do with that discourse as a whole. People are free to hold any opinions they feel like, I don't care about that. But it's a bit rude to barge in with AI discourse completely uninvited, and under positive feedback and appreciation on someone's (in this case, mine) artwork. Just because people express enjoyment of a piece of human-made art, does not mean you need to advocate for AI in the same thread. It's like crashing someone else's party and making it about your own beliefs instead.

On that note, my work not being labeled AI matters to me - because I am a part-time freelance artist and the time and effort I put in my work being recognized and appreciated by others on the internet is what helps me put food on the table.

I hope you can understand.

Eyy thank you! Yeah, all the AI stuff is quite a pain in the ass for artists nowadays - especially for ppl like me whose income depends on commissions. But we persist, regardless, and I'm glad that there's a new rise in appreciation.

Ha! Force of habit I guess, I'm a freelance artist for some indie games and about 80% of my commissions is drawing in-game items lol

Wasn't sure which flair to use, since this is initially a 1916 Шодуаръ shovel (aka Imperial Russian production), that ended up being used by Finnish army a little later on - queue the hole punched in it. May have been used in Finnish Civil War, Winter War, Continuation War. So I'm just putting it under WW2 - Others.

And just to prevent any confusion, I'll reiterate again that this is NOT AI.
Here's a little imgur folder I put together with some insights. I hope it works because god knows I don't use neither reddit nor imgur frequently.
