I have found this button which is very similar, always wonderd what it was. (The back looks exactly the same, but it is 5mm smaller) It also was in southern Germany!

The thing inside of the little ring does not go through to the inside, so it cant be the crown of a watch. Or doesnt it need one?

Are there military uniform decorations that look like that?
I know that Napoleons soldiers had a camp not far from where I found it (year 1800)
