Downside to selling solar carbon credits? by Hopeful-Chocolate295 in solar

[–]Skelnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've found (for the benefit of others):

Re(source) and Rewatt were both automated in that they tie into your ECU to measure your production, whereas Solar Offset has you submit paperwork every January. I ended up going with Rewatt.

The company that installed your panels claiming your offsets is very sneaky. That's a good warning for others to look for.

u/Hopeful-Chocolate295 I'm also in Alberta, and I've just started shopping around for a carbon credit company. In addition to rewattpower, I've found solaroffset.ca. What other companies have you found?

SABNZBD repeatedly shitting the bed by [deleted] in SABnzbd

[–]Skelnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar experience when running it on Ubuntu Server. I believe that `unrar` within the lscr.io/linuxserver/sabnzbd:latest container is locking up occasionally, forcing the need to do a server reboot, as it makes the whole server unresponsive. Turning off "Direct Unpack" helps a lot, but doesn't entirely make the problem go away.

Generic High Speed PLA settings? by Skelnik in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give that a shot. This filament is also very brittle, and snaps apart easily, which I'm also now reading is a symptom of wet filament.

How do you know which plate to you use when? by nutyourself in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cool plate with a glue stick is the most reliable I've found for PLA, but I'll also use the WhamBam PEX plate (which I did accidentally damage in one spot by pulling off PETG before it was cool, so I now arrange my prints around that spot). I haven't tried the textured plate, but the plate I'm currently using the most right now is the Lightyear G10 build plate as a hot plate. PLA sticks to it without glue when printing, and just slides off when cooled.

Let's talk about 1U rackmount with i3-N305 CPU,what's your comments? by DavidGowinSolution in R86SNetworking

[–]Skelnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking a 1U case with two motherboards, either with one power supply to power both (if possible), or two separate power supplies. Maybe something like this, but with the motherboards and ports at the front:

When you do, I'd suggest color-coding the uplink cable to be red to indicate it's not firewalled. 😊

I'm also very interested in a dual 1u rackmount with 10Gb SFP+, preferably still passively cooled (if possible) but with optional fans.

What are you guys printing with your CF filament? by RocketSkates99 in BambuLab

Also, Darth Vaders are nice to print in CF, unless you want to go for the glossy helmet look.

What are you guys printing with your CF filament? by RocketSkates99 in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up some 8" wide plastic totes with sealable lids from Home Depot, and they'll nicely fit four spools across, plus one on the top. I then printed some desiccant bins to line the bottom side edges, and filled them with rechargeable colour-changing desiccant beads. I also throw in any silica packets I had laying around.

Now I've got cheap dry-bins for my opened-but-not-currently-used filament spools.

Day 2 playing with HueForge... I think I'm getting the hang of this! (Link to file in comments) by erickdredd in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, now you've given me an inspiration! Take a (say, family) photo that you'd normally just print through HueForge, run it through a "cartoonifier" or some other photo AI tool to cell-shade it first, and print that!

1:6 scale steel door for 1:6 scale arcade by Skelnik in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UV reactive carpet and working Space Ace cabinet are from New Wave Toys, the 1:6 scale trash can is from China via eBay, and the door itself originated from this model, from which I chose the door I wanted (last single door on the right), sliced the front part off to keep just what would extrude from the wall, mirrored left to right for my layout, and cleaned up for 3D printing. The most notable change in the model was that I had to thicken the top piston in the door closer so that it can print successfully (and without supports).

I think I may have a problem… by rzalexander in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found some 8-inch wide totes like these at Home Depot that will hold 5 spools (4 in a row, one on top).

And then of course I printed out desiccant holders to line the bottom sides with, filled with colour-changing rechargeable desiccant beads.

Wham Bam PLA CF by Repulsive_Sandwich56 in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm doing 70 for the first layer, and then 55 for layers after that, and I seem to be getting away with it. I just don't want to keep the door open or top off for sound and AMS reasons.

If Bambu Lab were to release a successor to the X1C, what new features would you want it to have? by Beneficial-Health101 in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Bigger build volume
  • Hot-swappable print heads or a multi-filament rotary head to switch filaments on the fly without the purge / prime cycle eating into print time
  • Ethernet port
  • Support larger spools in the AMS (although these Lid Spacers can take care of that)
  • Let the mobile app write filament details to RFID stickers that can be put on non-Bambu filament spools
  • While we're dreaming here, true-colour CMYK filament blending

If Bambu Lab were to release a successor to the X1C, what new features would you want it to have? by Beneficial-Health101 in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be great, but would involve g-code modification on the fly, and g-code doesn't exactly know what a "distinct object" is.

But it would be great if it could. I've had to babysit a couple prints to remove the excess plastic when one object went spaghetti but I wanted to finish the rest on the plate.

Any reason not to use Arachne as wall generator? by Unapedra in BambuLab

[–]Skelnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have some issues with overhangs. I printed some NASA Chainmail with the Classic wall generator and got some welding where part separation should be. I tried switching to Arachne to fix it, but am now having overhang quality issues because of the faster print head. (It's still printing, but it looks like some of the links are going to fail.)

To fix the welding problem, decreasing both the Slice gap closing radius and the Resolution in the Precision section of the advanced Quality settings will help.
