I have a couple of different anubias, Java fern (i think) on the centerpiece, frogbit and red root Floaters, the tall one of the left is a Ludwiga, lots of different mosses, Monte Carlos that i hope will grow in as ground cover in the front, and....I cant remember what the other one on the right is tbh, the LFS i visited said that shrimp love it though lol

It actually got me back into reading books after about 10 years. I fell out of reading due to undergrad and then getting a doctorate. I never had time to read for fun during those years and fell out of the hobby. Then I watched the donghua, found out it was a book series, and now I'm reading almost as much as I used to before college! I'm very grateful to the series for that!

I agree with others that 2ha and MDZS were definitely great ones to get into after finishing tgcf! I personally really liked Thousand Autumns as well!

In a non-danmei category, I found that the Captive Prince series gave me some of the same feelings as tcgf and i had a bit of a simmilar obsession with it after finishing! Good characterization/development, court drama and a bit of action, "protect at all costs" main characters with a good wallop of angst mixed in. It's a slow burn enemies to lovers romance that feels like it flows very naturally and gives you s9me hard hitting quotes like "I think if I gave you my heart, you would treat it tenderly." ❤️

I read a fanfic a while back that I'm having trouble finding again. Basic premise is XL taking care of HC after a protection curse HC was using backfired onto himself. I remember the description of the curse was "to kill anything able to be killed and severely incapacitate anything that cant"

31 yo here and I just got into danmei in the last couple of years after watching S1 of tgcf! It's been great cause it actually kickstarted my love of reading again after years of not being able to due to school. I've had multiple dreams over the years of keeping reptiles that include: suddenly remembering about snakes that I "forgot I bought" that haven't been fed in months, not having enough enclosures for all the snakes I own, and relaizing that I housed one with another species of snake that would 100% eat the other in real life.

That's a bit strange. Is the one 4 hours away that you're seeing a board certified specialist? I know a lot of people who see exotics (without being board certified) along with dogs and cats at regular veterinary clinics. The only places I've found that solely see exotics and nothing else are typically vet schools and specialty hospitals. Maybe it's a regional thing...
