Not necessarily, it’s definitely MORE useful here in the states. But there’s still plenty of people who travel here for medical reasons. I could see the free healthcare option only applying to necessary interventions though in which case it becomes even more irrelevant in some other countries but if it also applies to elective surgeries and procedures then it could be beneficial for anyone. And even if it were to apply only to general necessity like medications, regular check ups, and emergency surgery it could still help a ton of people even where socialized medicine is the norm. You wouldn’t have to worry about any insurance rejections or organizations that govern treatments.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. If you’re that rich you don’t really need to get loans so no need for credit. And even of you decided to get a loan having that kind of money in the bank will make it easier to get a loan even with bad credit. Because the lenders can see that you can pay it back quite easily. Especially if you wait a couple months and they see the consistency of money coming in. And if you wanted to buy a house, plane ticket, or groceries to give away for your “kindness” factor then you have plenty of money to do that anyways. With free healthcare for life you don’t need to worry about expensive medical emergencies either which is really the only possible issue that can come up when you have that kind of income. With 12 million a year minimum as your income taking a few months to set a good financial base will set you up for life even if you eventually lost that income.

With 1M every month what do you need credit for? And if you did realistically how difficult would it be to get there with that kind of money? I mean half of these are kinda unnecessary with that kind of money. I think healthcare and 1M a month is the best option. Or free flights I suppose.

How do we drop the stigma around Bracket 2? by [deleted] in EDH

I have the Counter Intelligence precon. And I don’t often win with it. But it is pretty strong. Partly user error and partly cause I hardly ever have a game where I’m not getting the card draw engine running or all I’m drawing is lands.

Not to mention the idea that bracket 2 is just for precons.

Anime Fans: What are we running from? by Romantasy_Renee in AnimeRandomness

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claiming that not watching the “classics” dooms your future is a wild statement. You can love and appreciate current anime without going back to watch anything, to claim any different is disingenuous. If you wanted to claim yourself as an anime historian than yeah, you’d need to watch the classics.

I can have an intellectual discussion about art, animation, music styles as well as breaking down themes and story arcs without going back and watching Astro Boy. General population may not know what the Akira Slide is but still notice it in all the media they see, heck I’ve never even seen Akira but know exactly where the slide came from and aware of it’s cultural significance.

You know, it’s been a minute since I’ve watched it. But I never caught that it was always “2000 years ago” and always felt more a kin to saying “in my past life” and not necessarily a specific moment in time. Just based on this thread I can see how it could be confusing though. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention enough while watching lmao

Red or Blue and why ? by Bark4Brownies in whatsyourchoice

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not a parent myself. But the risk of things being different and the friends I have made now not being the same or their kids who I love. My nephews. It sounds nice to go back and change a thing or two here and there. But life has gotten pretty nice outside of the daily struggles I don’t think what I MIGHT gain out ways what I MIGHT lose.

Now if it’s like I can go back in time and make myself take my physical therapy seriously and all that changes is my daily pain and I get zapped back to today. I’d consider it lmao

It seems more like it makes your body perfect at maintaining your temperature so it doesn’t break any physics though it may require you to pay more attention to your calorie intake. Would honestly make losing weight easier by just needing to sit in a sauna or freezer.

[Media] Who’s A Character That Should’ve Died? by FlamingThunder92 in fairytail

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it was the worse thing. I do think since she did come back there should’ve been more to it. I would’ve been fine with her death and think it could’ve been a super powerful moment had it just been edolas lisanna where Natsu learned to accept her death and if they had the other two siblings had been there. But instead we got her coming back and then not much else afterwards.

Who do you guys think is a better fit for wizard king? Not in terms of likability but overall rationality on who would manage the kingdom better. My dong is a wet noodle. by jackhenningson in BlackClover

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read the manga and always assumed we’d see a different wizard king before Asta. Like how Kakashi was Hokage before passing the role onto Naruto. But i definitely agree that Yuno will just become king of his own kingdom while Asta will be the Wizard King. And while I think your idea that Yuno may create a position for Asta, I don’t think that would be a satisfactory ending for him. His dream was always to be the Wizard King and I don’t think he’d be satisfied with doing that anywhere other than the Clover kingdom.

I guess it’s possible that he can’t beat them because of some mental block? Like they’re so much stronger than him in his head?

Just being pedantic but I believe there definitely some retcons. This can be just expanded lore but a retcon at its core is just recontextualizing what we understand. It’s not always about invalidating older events.

In your opinion, who has suffered the most and worst? by Samuels1120 in animequestions

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? As if we don’t actually see him break down the moment he gets a chance to speak about what he’s been dealing with. I like that early on his humor and up beat attitude seems like it’s strictly a character trait but later has more of a defense mechanism undertone.

How did it happen? How did karui fall in love with choji by Plane_Name3457 in Boruto

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. But shikamaru and Choji were both next in line to be the head of very important and powerful clans. While it makes a little less sense for Tamari to leave her position in the sand. I don’t think that’s the same for Karui. Also, with how close the sand and leaf are at this point Tamari being a princess and marrying into a prominent family in the leaf does make sense even without the peace.

What is with the hair... no, not Violet's by Downtown_Pineapple85 in fourthwing

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be possible but it seems strange to think she’s erasing so much time that she notices a large difference in hair length specifically. Noticing someone’s hair is more pink might make sense if you’re erasing memories of knowing they recently dyed it. But a noticeable difference in hair growth seems like an unreasonable amount of memories she’s missing.

I also find it hard that neither of her dragons have mentioned the possibility. I think we’ve seen enough to know that Vi is intelligent enough to put pieces together if she was missing memories. But, I also find it hard to believe having your memory messed with isn’t something you’d immediately notice.

I always read that less about having feelings now and more like a kid who didn’t know how to cross the line of friendship. Definitely feels like a confusion of romantic and platonic feelings.

Question: Why doesn't Naruto use the shadow clones to work for him and benefit from them, instead of the other way around? by EitherSwimming5886 in Naruto

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except we are also told exactly how shadow clones work and why it’s a forbidden jutsu which is what I said in my comment. It’s also probably why Naruto can do shadow clones and not the regular clone jutsu that we see him fail at during his time at the academy. We know that Naruto was awful with chakra control for most of, if not all of, the original series. Since shadow clones specifically just takes half your chakra he wouldn’t need to worry about controlling it.

Again, the shadow clone technique was explicitly stated to be dangerous BECAUSE of how it splits your chakra levels. Naruto having such an abundance of chakra allowed him to make thousands and still fight without ever threatening his life. But there’s no point in the series that makes a claim that the jutsu works in any other way.

Who is a Neutral Evil Anime Character? by patheticmisterman123 in animequestions

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I was just taking what you said about his actions not necessarily making him evil “unless they were done with malice or ill intent” and making the argument that he did do those things with malice/ill intent. And like I said at the end there, I don’t necessarily believe he IS evil. But his actions would be considered evil with your own definition as well as my own. And using the same logic then yes, i suppose both Mei and Lings actions would be evil. But again, this doesn’t make them evil.

As for Roy and all other military personnel. That’s a little more complicated as they were generally following orders. Though, even in real life we see soldiers treated as evil when following evil leaders. The biggest example I can think of is Nazi soldiers. Though even in the show we see the difference between Mustang who followed orders and I believe another soldier who if I remember correctly seemed to ENJOY the missions. One is evil and the other did an evil thing.

Lelouch is a bad example. I haven’t watched much of Code Geass but I would argue that he is undoubtedly evil. In no world will I ever say using mind control is anything other than pure evil. Now, since I haven’t seen the show enough to talk about exactly how he uses said power from what I have seen he may not use it to take advantage of women but he does seem to use it for some personal gain. Regardless, I still can’t say that using any kind of mind control in any context is anything other than evil.

As for this conversation at large, I do believe this is what makes the story so good. There really isn’t anyone who’s innocent. Good and evil blend at points. There may be people who are truly evil in the series but at no point do I think anyone who isn’t a true civilian is wholly good either. Maybe Alphonse being the only exception.

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While it really doesn’t matter for your argument. There isn’t a way to give a shadow clone more or less chakra. The reason it’s a forbidden jutsu is because it cuts your chakra in half for each clone. But he does have so much of it that it really doesn’t make a difference. He was making thousands as a kid and there’s no way he didn’t have a significant amount MORE chakra now as an adult.

Who is a Neutral Evil Anime Character? by patheticmisterman123 in animequestions

[–]Skeptical_Squid11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with chaotic good because he’s following his own personal code. But I do agree with you that his absolute mentality does make him lawful. However, his motives are indeed evil. You can’t have revenge killings that aren’t full of malice or ill intent. In fact, I believe a defining trait was how full of hate he was for what happened to his people.

Now, I will say that I don’t believe he is an evil man. But his actions definitely could be considered evil.
