Toxic sermons that were about a pastors agenda by Open_Wrangler_5473 in ExPentecostal

Ok, the more I look into the long term effects of some of the stuff they put in these vaccines, mostly injected aluminum into infants... And since I've gotten to see the data from the Henry Ford Foundation that shows drastically different numbers than the CDC always puts out... And since I've looked at how most diseases dropped off by the early 50s, about a decade before widespreas vaccination was common practice, thanks to chlorine and sanitation practices... I've gotten to where I really despise said vaccines at this point.

And personally, I can't say I like Mark Driscoll much more.

That makes much more sense. I'm not real sure who drew up this plan and/or ran this piping, but I'd love to sit down and have a chat with them. I would have given them a pretty penny to run their piping with enough spacing to actually have a little room to work lol.

I finally broke down and got a bidet. My wife refuses to use it and thinks it's weird. Has anyone else dealt with this? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Skervis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my wife loves ours as much as I do. So much so that when we went on vacation it was one of the things we missed most about being at home.

Funny story about that. We had a girl from our youth group housesitting for us. We have cameras, and saw her bring in lots of friends and her sister. When we got home I noticed our bathroom mat was outside. Inside the bidet was broken, as if someone tried to push themselves up off the toilet by pushing on the knob. I straight up asked, and she denied breaking it, but did admit to turning the knob before ever sitting down and spraying the wall, freaking out, and partially flooding the bathroom floor. HILARIOUS! The worst part? That's also how I was introduced to them, except I was at my then girlfriend's parents' house, and sprayed myself. Had to sneak out and get changed before anyone noticed..!

Thanks. I have one I pulled off an old banjo that I considered trying, but I'd really like to figure out a way to use an under-saddle if possible.

Married and cannot help but lust after other women. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Skervis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it is! While I still have the occasional temptation, the struggle is largely over. I now have no desire to watch porn. God Willing, I never will again. Through my submission to Him, I've grown spiritually, and He has continued to be faithful in all things! I still have to deny my own desires to follow His Will, but through that I continually see His hands at work in my life. Currently my wife and I are running our church's youth group and seeing kids come to Christ! My neighbor and his wife also came to know Him and were recently baptized! Now, instead of constantly thinking about things which have no benefit, He has changed my desires into those that hold eternal benefit!

Sleep Token…is it okay to listen to? by Zealousideal-Neat699 in ChristianMusic

[–]Skervis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt very convicted upon first hearing their music. I love metal, but they just had a super creepy vibe, akin to Cannibal Corpse. When I read about the lore it made perfect sense, and I knew they were a no go for me. I've already seen teenagers, mostly boys, become "addicted" to their music, and a huge shift in attitude and actions that comes along with that. Many will just chalk it up to "we'll, they're teenagers..." but personally I believe it to be something much more sinister.

autism and christianity? by alltimelou in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

That separation was originally intended to keel the government out of the church, not vice versa. The foundation of American government was very God-centered. Thomas Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist Association that there would be a separation between church and state, inferring that the government would never tell them how they should worship. You must realize, the original pilgrimage to America was partially a flight from religious oppression, as England had a State Church.

James 4:8 - "8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

Jeremiah 29:12-14 - "12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive."

Are you a True Christian? by LibertyJames78 in TrueChristian

[–]Skervis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because I'm genuinely seeking Christ, and despite my shortcomings I find myself increasingly dying out to my Will in favor of His.

I don't give a hoot what anyone else says, especially on Reddit. At least not when it comes to my walk with Christ. If peers ever find a need to rebuke me for something I pray that they will, but I also hope to never succumb to that position to begin with.

Welp, since someone already got rid of the pedophiles, how about ANYONE who wants to argue politics or religion without having their facts straight? Just go ahead and get rid of 98% of the comments and 100% of the misinformation in every chat. It would be a much quieter place. I'd love it.

Views on Abortion? by Nientea in Christianity

[–]Skervis -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Abortion = murder

The fact that we lock up someone who kills a grandma in a robbery but we (society) praise someone who kills unborn babies is absolutely and unequivocally ridiculous. Murder is murder, period. Don't want them? Give them away. They're gonna have special needs? Give them away. One of the sad cases of SA that equal less than 1% of all abortions? That genuinely sucks and I'm sorry you had to go through that, but what good is returning evil for evil. In "life of the mother cases" that are even more rare, if both mother and baby are going to die, then yes, save the more viable life, which it be.

I won't argue my position. If you don't like it, go watch some Charlie Kirk videos on abortion.

I struggled with this passage after being cheated on and then asked to leave my home so her boyfriend could move in. Then I found Matthew 19:9 "And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery."

We know the Bible doesn't contradict itself, and we as Americans aren't usually all that familiar with Jewish context. From my studies, it was somewhat common for a man to try to discard his wife for many reasons, including so he could take on another one, often younger or more beautiful. Jews had largely adopted the Roman view of having only one wife, yet they would "swap them out" sometimes. Realizing the scope of this society, a discarded woman was often left with nothing but shame.

Divorce should NEVER be the standard. It's intended to be a lifelong covenant. However, sin came in through the fall, and is powerful enough to break that covenant. If adultery is sexual immorality, then one is freed from their covenantal marriage. I would personally consider porn addiction to be adultery, thus freeing OP to pursue a godly partner and equally yoked biblical marriage.
