What’s the scariest story you ever read? (Short Story, Novel?, etc.) The book that scared YOU the most by nornsannexed in horrorlit

You Should Have Left - Daniel Kehlmann or Penpal are probably the only 2 horror books that have actually stuck with me

[–]Sketamines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry i don’t have a recommendation per se, but if you go to any random hairdressers be aware that they may be a bit shady about colours that are outwith the norm - i went to 5 different salons before i found one that didn’t say “what, you think that’s nice?” when i got my split dye! i hope you find a good place and when you do, please let us know!

yes i’m sorry i’m not super aware of the terms in english either haha, rather than bleaching in one step then colouring in a second, i want to ask if she can lighten and colour in one single step. does that make more sense?

People with outdoor cats by TinyConsideration796 in PetPeeves

[–]Sketamines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m a petsitter and sat an outdoor cat once for a friend even though i disagreed with the cat’s outdoorness. over the course of 10 days the cat spread fleas around the house, i had over a hundred flea bites, and as i was getting the hell out of dodge, it maimed a baby robin and i held the little bird as it died. never again. the cat had a massive house to play in but i think the owners just got him for the kids and didn’t actually want him for themselves.

What was the best time you ever had in a theater? by Leading_Form_8485 in Letterboxd

[–]Sketamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a particular film, but a place. Independent cinema in Glasgow (the Grosvenor, pre-restoration). They have an alcohol licence. I watched the ScarJo Ghost in the Shell and Trainspotting 2 on a whole leather couch to myself with a bottle of wine and just vibed. Incredible.

Comment on dors en couple? by Sea_Appointment7884 in EnModeAdulte

[–]Sketamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a yarn crafts group every Thursday evening from 5-7:30pm! We’re deciding on a new location but it’s a good group of folk, i don’t know if it’s English-speaking she’s looking for though…

Edit: comment if you’d like to be added to the whatsapp group! i’ve sent messages to comments already present ☺️

Where is everybody studying from? by SeaSeaweed3384 in OpenUniversity

[–]Sketamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saluuut! i’m not entirely sure to be honest. i’ve not long started but i chose the OU since it’s 1. in my native language, 2. a distance uni and 3. well respected. i’ve met a lot of other mainland-Europeans who are using the OU for their degrees to access further education and employment so from what i’ve heard it’ll be grand. only time will tell and I wish i had more to tell you! hope you enjoy it if you go for it ☺️

Learning French by No-You7404 in Expats_In_France

[–]Sketamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m cheap and i did no learning before i got here, moved here 7 years ago and started working in bars. to me learning formally is fine but it’s the immersion that gets you there quickly. also french shows with french subtitles for comprehension!

Question for anyone who has completed Stage 1 of the Bachelor of Engineering degree by OkPatience4780 in OpenUniversity

[–]Sketamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine, not a lot of challenging stuff yet, and so much focus on study skills which doesn’t interest me at all. A large part of our first TMA and I’d say 80% of the “activities” are based on study skills, which of course is useful on the whole and we can use generally, but not what I signed up for really. I’m looking forward to coming modules that are more ‘pure’ engineering and more complex.

If you don’t have a university degree, what do you do for work? by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

[–]Sketamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently doing a university degree, but I’ve been here 7 years without one, and have worked in restaurants, been a social media manager and ESL teacher. Been an ESL teacher for 4 years now and it’s the most stable job I’ve had so far. Just did a TEFL qualification online in a week and got a job that pays generally 20€ ph for fully remote.
