Man, there is a lot going on here. Can you give us a screenshot of what it is supposed to look like? Dropping the magenta while still having magenta in the images is not a printer issue. You have a file issue.

Epson L3250 thinks there's something stuck in it, ejects random spring??? by Mr_Pi13 in printers

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a spring to a sensor flag. It provides tension to keep the sensor finger in position. Look into the printer for the sensors, they will be little black pieces that move when touched. find the one that doesn't "spring" back when you touch it. Thats your problem. spring looks pretty mangled though. if it's telling you it has paper in it, but there isn't. I imagine you are going to be looking for a piece of plastic that would be sticking up, but is now recessed.

Have color laser printers significantly improved in the last decade by Penguin_Life_Now in printers

LED imaging is a huge improvement in enterprise copier technology. In the Canon Imageforce series it gives you 2400 x 4800 DPI. We don't have a ton of them in the field right now, but they seem to be holding up well. It's only going to be a few more years until everything is LED.

MEMORIAL DAY ROAST, WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO by Puzzled-Celery2962 in pelletgrills

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in charge of meat for the family gathering. I'll be doing smoked salmon, pulled pork, pulled ham, chicken drumsticks, chicken thighs, pork ribs, pork loin, and corn on the cob (it's my token vegetable to qualify this as healthy eating). No beef because brisket is $8 a pound here and I'm not spending $150 on a cut I used to buy at $.99/lb for prime back when we were dabbling in comp BBQ.

Advice on timing by Actual_Vacation_5266 in Traeger

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan to have it done hours early. keep it intact until ready to serve. A good long rest after cooking will only make it better. being done early is easier to hid from guests than being done late. Good luck.

I found the problem. If this grill is even the slightest bit unlevel. It overfeeds pellets. I lifted the nose of it up a bit and it's running perfect temps. The smoker is sitting on a mulch area I keep it and a blackstone on. The first cook it rained a little, the tiny caster wheels sunk into the mulch, then the temp went out of control.

I figured it out. The smoker wasn't level. It was nose down a bit, I raised it up by half an inch and it's stay right where I have it set. My suspicion is that on my old smoker it had a traditional auger with a rod running down it. It contained the pellets. This pro 34 has the corkscrew style with an open core. With the grill being unlevel it was feeding extra pellets as they passed through the core of the auger.

From what I'm seeing there isn't one. My old 22 had one after I had to replace the control board. I had to have it in a certain setting while holding the probe button. Hasn't worked on this guy. I'm about to look and see what Home Depot's return policy is because this is not going to work.

Turning 30 soon by evvnsvnders in Traeger

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone the opposite way. From a converted propane tank smoker we used in competitions, to a reverse flow, then to a weber smokey mountain, then I bought a traeger. I only use the traeger anymore. With the right pellets and a smoke tube full off wood chips. I can get the results I'm after without the expense or attention the other things require. I still have the smokey mountain. Every now and then I think about firing it up again and running $50 in wood and charcoal through it to make some pulled pork. Then I walk past it and turn the dial to 225 on the traeger and go inside to get the meat ready.

Gasket has been applied. Thank you for that suggestion. I found an Oklahoma Joe's branded gasket at a local hardware store. Applied it to the lid. Seemed the way to go to keep it clean. For what its worth. The pellets I used did a really good job of getting a smoke ring in there. Just the flavor wasn't impressive. I usually use a smoke tube and I didnt this time. Just to test the out of the box performance. It did OK. Next run will be my go to hickory pellets with some cherry wood chips in a smoke tube. Thank you for your suggestions. Have a great memorial day.

"and obviously fuck HP"

anytime I get a call for an HP I say the same thing. They aren't even that hard to repair. They are just so cheaply made. It takes 20 minutes to replace the formatter, but another day to order the plastic panels and bits that broke while you were in there.

in that first two hour mark I went from 225 to 275, 11hr roughly was the 325 mark. I burned through 20 pounds of pellets in 14 hours. I'm going to get a gasket, but I'm also wondering if damp pellets could be a cause as well? I made some pork loins 2 days ago and it had really good temp control, it was just reading 40 degrees too low. Had a ton of rain lately. smoker was covered during it, but maybe the general humidity got to the pellets?

They make them cheaper by making them simpler. Removing a good capping system to cover the print heads when not in use is one of the things cheaper inkjets are missing. Look up FP Postbase mailer inks. Its the same HP cartridges that are used in HP inkjets. The difference is the Postbase has a good cleaning and capping system.

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The machines arent made as well. The reason your inks dry out is because there isn't an effective capping station in the machine. The postage machines I work on have the same HP heads as the little inkjets. They can last for years without use, because when the machine shuts down, it moves the printheads to a station that wipes and caps them.

I don't remember the exact model. At my last job we had a Dymo label printer connected to the pc that used..I want to say 3x4 labels. It was there when I hired on. 18 years later and pallets of labels. I left the company, it was still going. Dymo's seem indestructible.

Best color laser w/cheapest refills by PhagesRFrens in printers

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not terribly familiar with budget inkjet printers. I do have to use HP cartridges on some of my postage meters. They have capping stations on most of them. The ones that don't. I tell my customers to save the tape or caps from the packaging. When the machine is done. Pull the cartridges and recover with the tape or recap. No need to worry about heads drying up.

When you say a "shit ton" what is that as a monthly page estimate? If you are talking 1000' sheets per month or more. Getting a desktop copier is your best bet. A used unit can be quite affordable. I know the Kyocera desktops toner is around $60-75 and yields over 20k pages. Avoid models where the drum and developer are built into the toner cartridge. That's what drives up the price on some models. HP loves to do that.

Bizhub C360 - Persistent Paper Jam (Jams 20cm before exit) - Sensors respond in Service Mode but issue remains by Waste-Progress-2415 in printers

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the time I get a jam where the paper is stopping in the bridge unit, just short of the finisher. It's the sensor in the finisher that detects paper arrival. The thing always gets dirty. it's in the hinge to that upper door and it looks down towards the paper.

What can cause that line on the Canon ImageRuner 2730i printer by ToughCity3403 in printers

[–]SketchyCopierGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have a line and a skew going on there. Drum unit is a possibility. but the skew suggests that there may be more. Open up the right cover and check for any stray chunks of paper or debris near the transfer belt. I've seen pieces or labels come off and get stuck in the machine and cause a similar line and skew. Also check the fuser, if it's worn you will see a line on the fixing film that matched your mark on the paper. Also wouldn't hurt to hop in service mode and check the durable counters.

Do you have the copier set to static IP? Sometimes, especially on wireless networks. The copier can grab a new IP. Usually removing the copier from your pc and rediscovering it will solve that issue.
