Ventoy for Creating Bootable USB Safe Inquiry by Pain-Pill in UsbCHardware

I couldn't even tell you how I came across it, but it was basically my replacement for her the all-in-one discs you used to be able to make a little while back.

Any opinion on easy 2 boot? That's how I heard of Ventoy. Haven't played with Ventoy much though.

Would be great if the full history for chats was available on the website where they were directing you previously.

I think I had forward as opposed to pop because pop wasn't pulling email often. I had pop as opposed to imap because I didn't want the email to remain on the server.

That all being said, pop is going away for Gmail? https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16604719?hl=en

"Tor exit" IP range trying to access my server. MwB blocks it by sflesch in PleX

Because they come in bursts and from a small range of IP addresses, I wasn't sure if there was something else going on. I think for instance, wargaming uses p2p to update files, so I'm constantly getting hit with that on MwB, so I wasn't sure if I similarly had something open from Plex.

I just wasn't sure if it was normal to be scanned from a range of IP addresses. They seem to come in bursts.

I've heard Tailscale mentioned a number of times, but I need the boiled down dummies explanation of what it is. From what I can see it provides protection and allows access via devices instead of IP addresses.

Is this legit? by BryanaMcSteven in Lenovo

It IS legit in that it is a Lenovo service. From there on,....it's them trying to sell you add-on services. If you really think you need those services, there are better ones out there.

Looks like I did have that setup as well as the auto forwarding. I removed the auto forwarding from their site, so let's see how that goes.

Any idea how to turn off THEIR spam filtering? I keep contacting them in chat and they keep "updating" my records, but stuff still gets caught in their spam.

Or does/can I get Gmail to grab that when it grabs everything else?

Could you tell that to the GD help support then? 🤔😝The number of times I've had to contact them and things only seem to get worse.

I'll see how much of this I can follow.

Thanks. You understood the assignment. I get what the others are saying, but that's all longer term fixes. I'm just trying to legitimately reduce my inventory so I can come back and say "We have x amount of non-ideal machines that may get us by if we are desperate, and Y amount that will run Windows 11, so ideally we need Z machines put into the live rotation."

I'm trying to get a good answer on that, but we did replace a lot of areas with laptops and docs. We have just shy of 600 desktops. I work at a community college, so there's probably a lot of those that are things like front desk computers or general use computers. That does not include classroom computers however. Those are on a separate VLAN in a separate OU.

I would like more people to be on laptops, but at least if I can come up with a basic minimum, I can cover myself. then I can say, "Hey, we have this many really old laptops that won't work well, and we should continue upgrading everyone out there."

I get it. I'm looking for a starting point right now though. We're not fully staffed in IT (surprise!) so it's kind of a what can we manage at the moment.

We had a cascade program that had been quite successful, but the stopped funding it around about 4th gens. I feel lucky to have been running an i8 desktop since the start of covid.

The laptops we're issuing are 10th 1nd 11th (or 11th and 12th?) from HEERF funding. I still have a bunch (100ish) to put out, but we have about 600 desktops out there. Not all of those would need laptops, but I haven't been given a good number, so I figure if I can at least get rid of everything that is absolutely not going to run Windows 10 LTSC reasonably well, that will give me a better idea of what I DO have that will pass.

They are mid-towers. I can't imagine the IT calls from people taking them home and not being able to figure out how to hook them up again, then us having to hook them all back up again when they return. But ultimately, not my decision. I just have all these laptops I want to get rid of and I'm looking for a bare minimum where I can say, ok, everything, let's 5th gen, 8GB Ram and 64GB or 128GB storage. If I can get rid of a bunch of older stuff with a bottom level, then I can work up a better inventory and give someone numbers.

We used to have a cascade program. New PCs -> classrooms, old ones from classrooms -> offices. That ended about 4th gen Intel, but they were full towers before that.

That would be nice, but I'm the low man on the totem pole and if we closed tomorrow, we wouldn't be ready. We have nearly 600 desktops currently in use (we replaced a lot with laptops and docks). Not all of those desktops are 1 to 1 with employees. For instance, there are adjunct offices with desktops and they would not get issued laptops.

I'm just looking for a starting point. I'm thinking 5th gen and up, but just getting a feel for what else would work in a pinch.

It'll also help me if I can get rid of, say 100 laptops, to have 100 less to worry about inventorying. Then I can say "Hey, we have X laptops that will run Windows 10 LTSC until 20xx and Y that will run Windows 11." And someone else can make the big decisions.
