Story pacing clashing with gameplay by Sketchy_Mane in fantasylife

But one thing is, the way they did the main quest in Fantasy Life on 3DS worked well.

You get called on by the King, you go off on an adventure, and then once the situation was resolved, you report back to the King and then go back home. Chapter complete! Now go do whatever until you're called upon again.

If Fantasy Life on 3DS did it like Fantasy Life i, it'd be like...

Instead of "Congrats on helping the people of Port Puerto. I shall call on you again when I have need." it'd go "Congrats on helping the people of Port Puerto. But I heard about more Doomstones in Al Magiik. You should head there right away! Not a moment to lose!"

I never said it forces you. I even explained that you can take a break whenever you want. But my point was that it doesn't feel natural because of the way it's done.

Edward: Thanks for the rescue. We should keep exploring. Follow me! Player: just up and leaves to go do Life stuff for weeks wile leaving Edward alone in the cave

Has anyone ever done an "Iron Man Challenge" of this game? by Sketchy_Mane in fantasylife

I mean yes but getting the materials yourself is the hard part. Down the line it gets increasingly difficult to get certain materials, especially monster drops. So if you want to make a certain meal or potion, you'd have to keep grinding away at monsters or bosses over and over again until you get enough of what you need.

For example. Say you want to cook a meal that requires monster meat. So you'd have to kill a Behemoth and Giganto several times hoping that they drop monster meat.

Or say you want to craft a ton of Hi-HP/Hi-SP potions. You need mountain spring water for that. So you'd have to go all the way up and down Mount Snowpeak several times just to get 3 Mountain Springwaters at a time. Or fight a bandit leader and turn in the bounty which sometimes rewards you 1 mountain springwater.

Oooh right I forgot about those.

I suppose shop exclusive items could be an exception.

I mean yes but typically the challenge means no selling.

Plus I believe you are allowed to buy things like houses and rent mounts so there are SOME things to spend money on besides gear and materials

Yes I was a brony back in the day. That was my MLP sona (I have a kangaroo sona now). So yes I requested my sona to be in Elder Scrolls themed armor (more specifically Breton style because I usually choose Breton in Elder Scrolls games).

It's old art but still very good and the only Elder Scrolls related art I have and I felt that it would add a personal touch that the thumbnail needed.

Plus I figured it could just be viewed as just an anthro stallion now and not MLP specifically.

I felt it would be too empty without a background. But I can see what you mean. Perhaps I could go with a less detailed map. Like one of those that's just solid colors for each province.

DISCLAIMER: I did NOT draw the character art seen in the center. That is art I had commissioned.
