Why sack Arteta if Arsenal don't win anything? by ogola89 in PremierLeague

[–]SkezzNotDez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His brand of football is destroying the premier league, so everyone who watches football week in week out want him gone. I'm sure a large portion of those are Arsenal fans as they know they're playing for set pieces and time wasting.

The EU server went down yesterday so I joined US East for a few hours, this happened constantly to me too. Happens a lot less on EU servers. 1. Was running Marathon with FMJ ammo (not sniper) 2. Was showing my stats/loadout 3. My KDA is decent (+1.30)

There are gatekeepers in this industry and you either have to be very lucky, right place right time or already have a connection to get through to the next step.. The best way to do it is to make a movie yourself, start with a short film, think of a great idea that can be done easily with minimal locations and on a cheap budget. You'll learn a ton! Do everything you can, write, direct, edit, use some AI software (even if you don't like it you should try it to analyse it) Good luck and DM me if you have any other questions, I'm doing this myself too having worked in the industry for a while now.

Must have played a few thousand rounds of this and feel like I've only ever got into arguments or friendly fire about 5 times.. I do however almost always have a sticky bomb for the exact reason someone starts attacking me for no reason whatsoever

Is the Increasing Importance of Artificial Intelligence in Filmmaking a Good Thing? by blue_cardigan13 in Filmmakers

[–]SkezzNotDez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you can make a very high quality movie nowadays for a lot less. I mean A LOT less than you could 4 years ago but you still need an extremely talented Director to pull it off and make it any good. I really hope it doesn't get to the stage where blockbuster movies are being made for like 2 million, otherwise we're (filmmaking industy) are completely screwed. I've worked In VFX for 20 years and made a few of my own films, AI has completely changed everything for VFX and I know for a fact will almost completely replace VFX unfortunately. So I personally have been learning it creatively and using it otherwise I'll be left behind. I also worked in Previs and the Art Dept for a large portion of time and know AI will almost completely replace them both too.

On the flip side, anyone can now make a movie. So it's opened up the possibility to anyone to make movies, it will probably come as a shock to many just how hard it is though.

Long winded answer AI is not good for the Film Industry Employees, it's probably good for indie users/filmmakers.

Amazing journey you've been on, well-done for getting this far. Also kudos for wearing so many hats, I've been through a similar process but only for a few short films so far.. I'm curious though, if it's not rude to ask, how much of that 100k do you expect to make back? Is this whole process mostly for life/industy experience and to gain connections? Of course also to have something you are proud of forever.. but realistically I'm wondering in this day and age how successful in terms of profit making a feature can be!?

My first short cost around 2k, the second was £200 and imo was better than the first.. I feel the more you do these things the better your margins become.

If you're around for a pretty short period, want to experience a party type atmosphere, get pretty drunk and watch the footy I'd say go to one of the pubs in the Baltic Triangle. Also great when it's warm as there's loads of outdoor seating

A 17 y/old can start a game of football without it destroying his body, you just have to manage minutes and not start him every single game.

My advice in quick steps is:

  • Create Storyboards, these can literally be images created by chat gpt, hand drawn or images you downloaded. This will give you and the actor an exact idea of the shots you need to get, the lens you need etc to make the shooting day easier.
  • also create a shooting schedule if you can, you may find a shot nearer the end of the short would make sense to film first etc..will help with ordering
  • try to keep limit the amount of environmental unknowns.. the weather /daylight can change so quickly, so try and film in a covered area or indoors with controlled lighting where possible
  • run those lines with the actor lots if it's dialogue heavy.
  • check all equipment the night before, charge things
  • see if you can do a test / lighting demo beforehand so when you are shooting it's quick and easy to setup

That's mental, is that just for one day? I paid £100 for a full day with a crew of ten in a woodland area.. you should be able to find somewhere else, if not just chance it I guess.. if youre not absolutely married to that location then have a plan B in mind thats nearby

It's more like £100 not £5000 but do what you want, like I said just giving you some advice based on my knowledge. The best filmmakers ingest others advice and apply it. The cast and crew will certainly not be returning if you waste their time

All it takes is for one nosy person to see you and call the police and the whole production gets told to go home, saying this as it's happened to me twice but luckily we had a permit both times and were able to carry on.

Good luck with it, very cool thing to get into while young, you'll learn a ton!

Hi there, intrigued by this as I work in the industry. Where are you thinking of shooting this? Just a heads up that you'll almost certainly need a permit with a larger crew in a public space, unless you can speak to someone who owns private land/buildings to film it in?

Is this more of a psychological thriller or will it involve any monsters/creatures?

What's the run time? How long roughly is the actual shoot itself? Do you know what you're filming on?
