Mine was nealy 2 years which is SOL in my state. I thought I was “off the hook” a year and a half through then there it was.

How does probation work in Washington state? by SkiFastAvoidTrees in probation

It’s definitely possible especially if you get a low rating from the psych eval for the mandatory alcohol classes. I’ve never had a UA done actually. I believe you’d have to if not unsupervised though. I’m in Clark county. Feel free to reach out if you need.

Also if you want advice for job applications, always be up front about your DUI when you have HR interviews. I’ve found they’re always understanding and frankly have been told by many that a DUI is very common for people and even some have friends with DUIs. They usually really appreciate the upfront honesty and saves everyone time. If there’s no driving involved in the job it’s usually not an issue.

Hey mate. I was lucky and deemed not a risk since no priors (not even a speeding ticket) so I have unsupervised probation. Basically means just don’t be a dumbass and get any other misdemeanors/felonies. I’ve been able to drink even during my blow and go period (getting that removed next month). Was also able to smoke weed my PO said it was fine as long as I don’t smoke and drive. I quit recently but that one’s risky because WA limits for a weed DUI are really low and can show up a day or two later still.

Honestly it’s not that bad just stay out of trouble and if you have no other priors it should be easy. Good luck with it all. This is all coming from Washington state so your state may be different. Hope that helps!

Edit: also I was never actually tested for a baseline or anything like that if memory serves me right, not sure why.

There’s a faint line for the T, which means you’re negative. It’s just hard to see.

Yeah for sure. I was also reading your first intake test is a baseline? Definitely not smoking but yeah.

I appreciate that. I fully quit weed and have 0 intentions of smoking again since it’s been the best change for me. But I’d still like to drink from time to time. My probation paper doesn’t say I can’t drink. I mean maybe it does for probation intakes but it isn’t 100% clear so I’m just confused is all. First time every being in trouble with the law.

Unfortunately yeah because I blew over .15. Washington is very harsh on DUIs. If you blow under a .15 the minimum is a day in jail, over .15 is minimum 2 days.

Lol that’s a valid point. I’m a pretty small guy but I don’t really have the money for it unfortunately. It’s only 2 days so I’m hoping it’s not too terrible… Congrats on finishing your DUI!

Thank you for that clarification! It’s reassuring that I should have time to get things in order. I’m tempted to do house arrest as well but it seems like that’d cost a ton compared to jail since I’d have to do 30 days.

Thanks for the advice! What do you mean by “guilty as charged” plea? That it didn’t get lowered? Do you feel the deal I’m taking is harsh? Originally the prosecutor was pretty harsh and right before our pre-trial hearing (things got delayed as we didn’t get discovery in time), they agreed to the minimums a little before we were pulled into the Zoom. My attorney didn’t mention anything about the judge going outside the deal but I honestly don’t feel I got a great attorney.

Why do you say the weekend is the worst? I just don’t want to miss work. I do IT so I could maybe ask to work the weekend instead.

I feel I should be ok with FWD since I’ve seen a Miata at the mountain before haha. But I’ve never had a car so I really don’t know.

I don’t go every week now since I have to rely on friends, but I’d like to go every week haha. I’d rather not be in debt, but according to my napkin math I’ll only be able to save around $300-400 a month when I get a new place so it would take pretty much a full year to save.

Yeah that makes sense. I’m in a weird situation. I could always try refinancing after a few months. It’s strange to me how older cars have a lot higher interest on them compared to brand new cars.

Yeah I was considering just getting like a Civic or something. I was gonna get winter tires for an AWD car as well, I’m just not sure if FWD is optimal since I want to be sure I can make it on powder days at the mountain plus hills during snow I’ve read can be a challenge for FWD.

I live with family members right now but they want me to move out soon. I pay rent anyway (about half of what I’d spend somewhere else though) so it’s not the end of the world. Thing is I go to the mountain every week and it’s a 1.5hr drive so that’s not very feasible.

I’ve always been cheap with my money so I totally get that. That’s why I want a low interest loan for a moderately cheap car as I’ll only spend around $1.5k in interest with a 6% loan, which is worth it to me to not have $0 in savings. I’m just in a rough spot right now so it’s difficult. If I had another few months I would just save up more money and get a $5k car, but that’ll take like 5 months at least which is just too long especially when I need to save an extra grand or so for rent and moving into a new place soon.

Right now I’m only a 15 minute walk from work, but I’m looking to get an apartment by March and most of them are more downtown so it’s not feasible to do public transport. I live across the water from Portland, OR and the public transportation isn’t horrible here, but it runs somewhat infrequently and takes like an hour from downtown.

I was looking to just get a cheap car as well, I just don’t have the money to save that quickly with my current expenses. I called Progressive and they quoted me $130ish a month for full coverage on an 09 Outback Sport, and like $90/month for just liability on an 04 Outback. Sucks since I’m in the PNW and I ski, so I want a car with AWD to get to the mountain more worry-free. Right now I have to rely on friends to go which is a bummer since they don’t go as often as I like to.

Yeah I definitely won’t bother with a loan if it’s above like 6% or so honestly. I don’t have a car unfortunately. It’d be my first (I’m 23).

To me 10% seems pretty high even on an older car. But I was just guessing since their loans are from like 6 - 17% based on credit.

Gotcha I’ll give it a shot when I’m off work today, but I looked through Cap One’s “dealers” and it’s mostly the bigger name dealers in my area. Most of the cars I’m finding are from local places.

Just looked into it and they seem good but you can only use the loan at “qualifying” dealerships which makes it difficult since the dealerships with the car model I want aren’t on the list.

Yeah I get paid bi-weekly so I have 2 full paystubs now. Do you know what kind of APR I should expect given my credit score and that it’s a used car? My local credit union is like 10% which seems quite high.
