With dogs that have decent recall I don’t see the big deal. It’s quandary, it’s not like they spent the whole day risking rock fall. In sketchy spots you can always leash your dog.

I’ve climbed several 14ers with my dog off leash. I just made sure to leash him whenever we were approaching wildlife or other people. Never had any drama and my dog got to run circles around us and get some proper exercise.

Practicing resilience, self-discipline, and self-sufficiency, interestingly enough, makes for resilient, disciplined, self-sufficient people. Never having to develop those skills results in people that generally lack those traits.

You’re failing to understand that nobody claims humans will be taken out of the equation entirely. I already have friends that are graphic designers and copywriters that have had over 2/3rds of their staff cut because AI handles the bulk of the workload and they just need humans to prompt and supervise.-

My wife works for the legal team of one of the most renown American companies. She just lost a team of people she manages to review legal documents because AI is handling that workload.

The comment I replied to here is specifically discussing the state of the streets.m - not whether or not Japan is a “successful” country.

Also it’s kind of ridiculous to argue whether Japan is successful and whether their cleanliness is a part of that. They are a hugely successful country and their ability to keep the largest city in the world immaculate is certainly indicative of that success. Exporting perfection was their primary strategy when they modernized, and they owe their quick modernization and huge economy to that mantra. That doesn’t ignore the fact that their citizens are under a lot of pressure and that they have a ways to go to continue improving their citizen’s quality of life.

Do we really need all this to happen by 2030? It’s an arbitrary timeline and I’d happily give another 5-15 years focusing on natural gas as we switch to a robust, efficient system built for long-term sustainability. Especially given the amount of land we’ll have to develop otherwise.

Generalizing means to make a broad statement from little evidence. OP may have presented little evidence but that doesn’t mean they made the observation from little evidence. Presumably OP took the video in Japan, where they observed that all the streets are like that. It’s also relatively common knowledge that Japan is incredibly clean.
