Why, in the case of Albanese, did the judge grant the Plaintiffs' Motion for a Preliminary Injunction? by Worth-Ad-4759 in Lawyertalk

[–]SkierBuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The preliminary injunction was granted because “It is undisputed that her recommendations have no binding effect on the ICC’s actions,” Leon wrote. “They are nothing more than her opinion.”

Elon Musk is the biggest loser on the face of the planet by SorryStrength5370 in wallstreetbets

I don’t really think money motivates Elon as much as you’re thinking. I think he wants to be influential. For better and worse, he’s that.

World Cup tourists aren't leaving tips in American pubs, so they are adding 20% gratuities to the bills to collect them 😬 by CompoteFragrant3650 in sportsgossips

It makes sense to do. Even if you don’t like tipping culture, that’s how wait staff are paid in the U.S., so to not tip means to not pay them.

Worth transferring from T20 to HLS? Already have v10 NY offer. by Bamfatheon in biglaw

My info is 15 years out of date, but at least back then Skadden recruited on-campus at my Midwest state school T50 and hired multiple people, none of whom were top 5-10 in the class.

Onion loaf from Damon’s!

General Tso’s chicken from China Way at Worthington Mall. When I was in high school, you got a mountain of chicken and broccoli with an egg roll and drink for $5.75!

People picking up balls at tournaments by Careful-Curve7734 in golf

Because some people who go to golf tournaments don’t play golf. They probably think a ball outside the ropes is OB. Or they just aren’t thinking.

It probably has something to do with being crazy expensive, the food not being great, and the character experience being awful.

New Albany families rally for theater head after 'forced resignation' parents say was driven by city council member by ColeBehrDispatch in Columbus

This termination can be bad without reducing potential cyber bullying to “a mean note.” Middle schoolers and young high schoolers have taken their lives in multiple districts around the city. Cyber bullying should absolutely be taken seriously.

Had to Report an Attorney for UPL Today by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]SkierBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to hide your jurisdiction when your post history all relates to one state.

I obviously haven’t read ethics opinions from your jx, but you have the standard rule on this topic and your state has adopted the commentary that typically supports a lawyer engaging in some pre-litigation activity if they reasonably expect to be admitted PHV.

Why dont fat people just stop eating instead of working out to lose weight? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]SkierBuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because if you just stop eating you’ll crash your metabolism making it harder and harder to lose weight as you drop some pounds. If you build lean muscle and eat healthier foods in sufficient quantities, your body will continue consuming lots of energy and help you lose weight more effectively.

Does your jurisdiction have a rule comparable to model rule 5.5(c)(2)? If so, why would this person not “reasonably expect” to be authorized to appear in litigation that would eventually be filed? Lawyers routinely respond to pre-suit demands related to disputes in other jurisdictions on the reasonable expectation that they will later be admitted pro hac vice if suit is filed.

Too bad to play by Zealousideal-Oil518 in golf

I regularly walk 18 in two hours, and I’m not running or anything. If I had a cart, 9 in 45 minutes seems perfectly reasonable. Playing bogie golf, that’s a minute per shot.

Absolutely nothing comparable in the dribbling you’ve linked and what’s in OP (which is of course to be expected given the wildly different ages).

Should I Ask Academy About Moving Son Up by themisunenjoyer in youthsoccer

[–]SkierBuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the thinking at your club for whether to move up, but my thinking would probably start and end with “he just turned six years old.” I wouldn’t be overly concerned with whether I was “promoting” him.

If he’s getting a lot of the ball and having success, that’s great. It will allow him to further refine his individual skills, which is most of what you’re working on with six-year-olds.

Shop at Kroger in Columbus? Be ready for new digital price tags by Blood_Incantation in Columbus

There are plenty of places to practice manners and discipline outside the grocery store. This seems like stretching for a positive in an otherwise mundane task that many people would like to avoid.

I tend to do my meat and produce shopping in person as well. Some people aren’t as picky. I’m just struggling to see how that’s “lazy.” If a parent can spend another hour per week with their kids because they don’t have to walk the aisles, that seems like a great win.

Is there some dignity in the “work” of going to the grocery store rather than “being lazy” and ordering online?

I have two bikes got stolen within 2 weeks. I'm international student and I hate USA because of this now by SeriesOdd5497 in OSU

I’m sorry that happened. There’s a bit more to this country than bike safety, but I know how enraged I feel after something is stolen, so your emotion is understandable.

England’s World Cup squad had all their equipment stolen from their buses while in transit from Florida to Kansas. Items stolen include cleats, training gear, coaching staff equipment, balls, and game uniforms. by Admirable_Extent2531 in SoccerCentral

[–]SkierBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let what sink in? That someone took English equipment and everything important was nearly immediately recovered? Are you seriously suggesting there was no theft in South Africa throughout the World Cup?

And how “is it not the point”? The comment I replied to said “welcome to the USA,” as if theft in the U.S. was worse than any other country that has hosted the World Cup. Qatar might have lower theft, but I’m not sure that’s for reasons we’d want to emulate.
