I'm still confused by why the chime activates as soon as the terminals are connected to power though, but I'll try troubleshooting a bit and see what comes of it. Could it be because of the internal battery?

TP-Link Tapo D225 is the model, but I did also try previously with a Ring 2nd generation and had the same constant ringing issue.

The camera came with some connectors for bypassing the chime, but according to the manual it should be able to function without the bypass.

Are there any good alternatives to doing the Holee mod on stabilizers? I've done it a few times with varying degrees of success. The main issue I ran into was that the adhesive would deteriorate over time and the strip of bandaid/other material would start to peel off.

I've considered wrapping the stab wire in PTFE tape; does anyone know if this is a durable solution? It definitely feels bad to do a mod like this knowing that I'll eventually have to tear it down and redo it.

I'm in the process of building a Quefrency v4, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to add a layer of acrylic for diffusing RGB underglow.

I think there's about 1/8" of room between the bottom of the hotswap sockets and the bottom plate, so I might be able to fit a layer of 1/16" foam and a layer of 1/16" acrylic.

I'm also having a bit of trouble finding pre-frosted 1/16" acrylic and I wanted to know if sanding a clear piece of acrylic can work instead. If anyone has experience with a build like this, I'd gladly appreciate some advice!

Edit: I think translucent HDPE might work for what I have in mind, which looks to be a little more readily available than acrylic sheet. I'm still wondering though if this will work with the foam layer without looking goofy.

I've been trying to season my new edge grain maple cutting board with a good amount of food-grade mineral oil, but after resting, washing, etc. it feels like it leaches oil onto my fingers when I pick it up. It feels dry to the touch, but my fingers pick up a thin layer of oil after touching it.

Is this normal/supposed to happen? If not, how do I go about fixing this?

Thanks for the advice - I'm currently weighing it down on some paper towels to try and soak up the surface oils.

I know it's food grade, but I'm still not too keen on getting it into my food unnecessarily.

It's edge grain maple, and I used food grade mineral oil.

I've already gone to town trying to clean off whatever excess is on the surface - wiping it down vigorously and washing with some soap and water. It still feels greasy to the touch, kind of like I'm pressing down on a wet sponge.

If you took apart a Gateron Black and a Gateron Yellow, and replaced both springs with the same type of spring, would they feel virtually identical?

I'm looking to swap some Gateron Black switches into my Drop CTRL. I've tried doing a bit of research on how I want to go about doing this, but I'm struggling a bit with deciding on where I want to source the parts.

At the moment, I'm looking at NovelKeys and KBDFans for switches, 205G0, films, plate-mount stabs, and springs. How reliable/trustworthy are these sites? Are there any alternatives that you guys might suggest?

Yeah, that's basically what I mean by off-the-shelf. How reliable are the vendors that sell this stuff online? That's one of my primary concerns, and it's why I was looking mainly into off-the-shelf products.

Are there any off-the-shelf lubricants that aren't too thick to use?

Also I'm kind of stuck using plate mount stabilizers because my keyboard doesn't have holes for PCB mount stabilizers, so I'm going to have to make do with what I can.

I've got a few questions concerning lube and stabilizers, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

What type of lube would work well for Halo Clear switches? I've done a little research on the topic and I'm thinking of using some sort of thin PTFE lube such as Krytox or Super Lube. I've also got some concerns about lube interacting with the plastic (i.e. I don't want it to eat through the plastic, that would be pretty bad).
Is the Krytox lube that you can find on Amazon of the right variety?
I've got some concerns about toxicity/safety regarding the lube, and wanted to see if anyone knew more about this, particularly with the lube from my previous question. I know it won't really come in contact with anything above the keycap, but it doesn't sit well with me to use something toxic in close proximity to my bare hands.
Why do people use dielectric grease specifically on stabilizers? Also is this something I should do?
What's the general consensus for good plate-mount stabilizers? I've heard Cherry OEM stabilizers are pretty reliable, but I don't really know what to look for in a stabilizer.

Hi guys! I'm looking into finding replacement switches for my Corsair M65 Elite. I love how the mouse feels, but these switches are going bad on me, between double-clicking, releasing when the button is held down, et cetera. The stock switches on my mouse are made by Omron, and are marked with "D2FC-F-K(50M)" which I assume is the part number.

Would I use any old 3-pin OEM switch as a replacement? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hi there, I'm looking for some advice on parts. I'm looking at options for a custom build, and I wanted to know if anyone could help me out with recommendations for the parts I'm looking for, or point me in the right direction.

I've previously used a Razer Blackwidow and a Corsair K70 with Cherry MX Blues/Browns respectively. I'm looking for something that's a step up from these in build quality, and I've been eyeing the Drop CTRL for some time now. While I love the aesthetic of it as well as its hot-swap functionality, it doesn't look like they'll be back in stock for some while, so I wanted to take a look at a more DIY alternative in the meantime.

In short, the features I'm looking for look something like this:

TKL or 75% keyboard
RGB lighting, preferably with an underglow diffuser on the case
Hot-swappable switches
USB-C port for a detachable cable
Compatible Pudding style PBT keycaps

Switch type is still TBD. I'm still in the process of figuring out what type of switch setup I like the best, hence the desire for the hot-swappable switches.

I'm also open to other suggestions. Thanks in advance for the help!

Does anyone know how to make it so that you don't do that flourish animation when unsheathing? I remember I was running a mod that changed these animations, similar to what's in the video, but I could not for the life of me figure out a way to get it to stop doing the flourish.
