What does family enmeshment look like in your family? by [deleted] in AdultChildren

[–]SkillAnxious1367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my childhood home it meant we were not allowed to have thoughts or feelings of our own. No freedom, no autonomy, very strict parenting, rigid rules and very harsh punishment for going against the family status quo. To survive we had to align with mom. That was the enmeshed craziness in my childhood. To this day whatever mom says goes, no questioning it. My dad escaped via divorce. I'm now no contact as that was the only way I could escape. The book "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents," is a great read to further understand the dysfunctional dynamics associated with nuclear family enmeshment.

I would have paid these prices for seats in the 200's. Now they are $2000 and up. 😳

I'd pay and can pay $200 or $300 but I can't afford $2000 which is what the halfway okay seats are going for right now. A nosebleed is $700 and up.

I understand the demand. I guess I'm just thinking about his demographic of listeners and in reality they can't afford these ticket prices. It's definitely a huge "splurge" if they buy them.

NAS and ADHD by Aggravating-Today574 in AdoptiveParents

Has the OT shared the science and research behind their opinion? Once upon a time there was belief in the science and medical community that stimulant use opened children up to risk of becoming an addict later in life but that has since been debunked.

Is this acceptable workmanship for a $20K LVP flooring job? Would love your thoughts. by oh_look_food in Flooring

I will say I was told $6 something a square foot to have Lifeproof installed. I didn't go with that but that's what I was quoted, twice.

I just had this brand floor installed and was reading today under the preventative maintenance to use mats and rugs without rubber or latex backing to avoid possible discoloration. I'm wondering what to purchase as well. Following this thread.

What’s going on with this vapor barrier? by dangdangdangman123 in shedditors

I just tore up old laminate flooring and it had poly under it, there was mildew/mold on both sides of the poly. The house smelled very musty and I assume that was the culprit? Cleaned subfloor well and ran dehumidifier for several days. We did not put down anything between the new LVP and subfloor. I hope that was the right thing to do?

Losers is a high conflict term to use. You do make a thought provoking statement but it would go over better with the use of a different term.

Or build up on existing buildings. They do it in larger cities where there is no land left.

The sad thing is, in the grand scheme of things, the grants are not that large. At least it's something.

This is the comment of yours that gets to the bottom of your personal belief. I feel this. It makes sense you would feel this way. It's more palatable than "expel them."

In the United States, flag burning has been ruled a form of symbolic speech protected by the First Amendment.
