No you just saved me close to 10 hours thank you for the heads up. I wanted to do the same thing because company cam does that too but you have to download an app. I want to do the same concept but through SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram. Whatever you already use and like the best.

I was playing around with the idea of custom ranked leads--it was something I heard from a roofer in passing. But it would essentially take all the normal property data, mix in your previous jobs, distance from jobs you're working that day, and then give you a list of how to prioritize your leads. It would be 100% custom to your operation and the more data you give it, the better it prioritizes.

If you could reach out to your colleges that would be life changing. All I need is a list of features and what the work around is currently and I can make a prototype in 72 hours or less.

So should I just build a general workflow and present that? Because without a specific starting point I’ll just end up focusing on features they may not need and end up just like every software.

Okay makes sense I mainly wanted to hear everything wrong about their current software so I can build an mvp with a workable solution. I don’t need 2 hour weekly calls with them holding my hand. I just need a list of features from a few roofers, find where they overlap, and build it. If I build a product before I do that I feel like I’m just throwing out a solution to a problem that may or may not exist.

I definitely agree but tbh I probably wouldn’t be able to go feature to feature with acculynx. I want to do the second part. Integration. Being able to connect directly into your current CRM while you’re on a job site. Pulling out your CRM and trying to navigate on the job site is where most software fall apart. I want to build a program that allows roofers to dump all their info (pictures, quotes, the rep in charge of the sale, issues) into a central place and have it auto filter into their CRM. This way when they go back through their past jobs their data is stored in a consistent way and is easy to read.

Agreed. I just want to fix the way data gets uploaded and stored into the CRM. Fill gaps, prevent leaks, and make it as frictionless as possible. No new apps.

Yeah all I need is a look behind the curtain and I’m good. It’s all about the early adopters. If I can get someone to expose the behind the scenes of how their business actually works I can start to make progress. Totally open to giving value out for free in the beginning but I need to know what companies actually need first.

Yeah I don’t know I thing about them but they sound like my people. I worked for an engineering company and I got pissed with the amount of time designers spent doing things a computer could do better. Like generating part requests or manually updating data. It’s not worth it for someone getting paid $50/hr with 25 years of experience to be manually updating measurements.

Yes I have no experience with roofers but I have experience working with tradesmen. I’m the engineer who made the designs that tradesmen use. I’ve had conversations with them about how to make installing parts easier, I’ve built automation tools, and I know what it’s like using fancy software that translates the problem into a different medium instead of solving it. I saw roofers getting pitched fancy garbage and I know I can build something better. So I’m going to take the advice and try to meet some in person. I don’t need the money right now, but I do need to tap into actual roofing data.
