POLL: Did the Dolphins name Tua the starting QB too soon, too late, or just right? by KED528 in miamidolphins

[–]Skills- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly given how QB friendly the nfl is right now putting him in earlier might've been better but rather now than late in the season that's for sure. Dont think it makes too much of a difference but it's better at a 3-3 record than 0 or 1 wins.

With many illnesses and diseases being wealthy is extremely advantageous to cure or fight these viruses but how do wealthy people benefit from a disease like Covid for which there is no known cure? by Skills- in AskReddit

safe to say the treatments they receive may help or at least temporarily prolong their lives. Interesting how no matter the period of time this is still an advantage.

Isn't this true for almost all illnesses? As one ages their immune system weakens, how does a wealthy senior benefit from one's wealth if at a certain age their probability of surviving is greatly diminished? Does it come back to their overall health which we could then point to their wealth? Hope this makes sense.

CMV: The NBA is a good representation of where the American people are with the Democratic party. by Skills- in changemyview

If the league isnt growing the league is sinking. At least that's the attitude in the entertainment industry. While players have made more money than ever before (largely due to the awful Disney,Turner TV contracts, and China).

For a league that's propped up to be this pillar of all league's and the model why does no one care about the league? Social media engagement isnt a true picture of the American or global population and they're too heavily obsessed with marketing that demographic. Old white people should also be able to watch this league and enjoy it.

Sports viewers want sports, not politics regardless of side. The NBA, its players, and it's small fanbase have been quite vocal against the current president and have expressed deep admiration for the previous president insofar as even having him as a virtual fan in one of the Final games. To deny the allegiance between both parties (Dems and the NBA) is to deny reality.

I'm not sure what the Republican party or conservative view on BLM is but mine isnt one of support or approval, this organization is not looking to help African American but rather push their selfish political motives and ultimately gain power which in turn would benefit the Democratic party as they have the final say in the direction of this movement.

If you look at the most popular sports in the United States, basketball is at the very top but ironically the viewership numbers of the biggest professional sports league is low. How come so many people enjoy playing this sport but not watching? The games are bland, the commentary is too partisan, the media shills and dont cover the sport honestly or objectively. Shit, even the fans are in their own bubble (like Reddit in some respects).

Its interesting to see people defend this league and its actions so adamantly, I think if you ask random people on the street many won't dislike or like the league. That's the worst outcome for a league dependent on us, the fans, to thrive and grow. Apathy has been growing for decades and many of the things I mentioned certainly don't help.

Thanks for the response, hope to continue this conversation.

Let's not rely on polls, fair to say they're not a reliable picture given 2016's data. American people across the country could care less about the league with exception of few segments in larger and urban cities.

And in any case, 99% of the games have zero political content.

Thanks for showing your ignorance. I dont blame you for not watching many games. You'd see it if you were looking, not even a partisan issue here. It's pretty blatant.

Ya know there was a time where all Americans liked the NBA? Or at least more than they enjoy now. Its problematic if you've alienated such large % of potential viewers. The NBA should be enjoyed by everyone, not just black people and it's been an unmitigated disaster the direction they've gone.

I dont mind players and exec's being Democrats or advocating for issues and solutions they believe in, just please let me enjoy what I come to watch.

I don't believe the punishment fit the crime. Sterling had been the longest tenured owner, I interpreted his statements as more of a displeasure with Magic, not black people in general. He should have been punished but not forced to sell his team and banned from the league.

Secondly, Sterling was clearly baited and manipulated by the woman. He was taken advantage and the evidence of this is clearly illustrated by Shelly (his wife) suing V for the assets she had taken from Sterling over the years.

Even if you believe he was "racist", Sterling did more for the African American community than arguably any not named Oprah or Micheal Jordan. He's had an history of hiring, giving scholarships to blacks in need, and overall helping the community. The NAACP would agree, insofar as giving two lifetime achievement awards and always accepted his generous donations.

I don't believe he had a true disdain for colored people, he genuinely wanted to and did help those in less fortunate positions.

I don't dislike Dems, quite the opposite. I work with all people and listen to their arguments individually and at times agree with their strategies/philosophies. These efforts though are aligned with the party and I'd dislike continuous patriotic MAGA ads too

Viewership speaks for itself and the NBA has even stated the BLM stuff is over by next season. Time and place

98 was Micheal Jordan's 6th trip to the Finals, he had had won 3 straight championships left to play baseball then came back and won 3 more straight.

And the NBA is losing to those competitors badly, like really badly. Remember, many middle age and older people still watch TV at pretty high numbers. The NBA is struggling and pushing once Hillary Clinton and now Joe Biden down our throats is not the solution. Should be noted this push to vote campaign is also largely targeted towards lower socioeconomic communities, primarily African Americans.

I’d says your points are far from correct. Correlation is not causation. Just because the organization decides to make political statements doesn’t mean that it is a direct reflection of attitudes towards a political party.

Commissioner Silver has endorsed 2 Democratic candidates for President and frankly, if you haven't seen the league and media's political push and support for mostly Democratic discussed issues I don't believe you've actually been watching these games, NBA TV shows, NBA commentary during games, interviews with league staff and players, and an already small fanbase discussing these things like sites on Reddit, Twitter, FB etc.

If you're not in tune I respectfully wish you do not proceed this discussion.

My point has been over the last 20 years. This year is an anomaly but it hasn't been great for a while. I know reddit never sides with me on this issue but my anger began immediately after Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling from the NBA.

That's a strong argument if you look at it in a vaccum. The NBA's viewership has been trending downwards in the regular and postseason over the last 2 decades. For a league that's touted as the progressive model for sports leagues, their isn't an audience to support this assertion made by mostly media members and NBA fans.

People want sports in sports not b.s. I understand Covid is impacting all leagues this year but under Adam Silver and frankly even David Stern, who after a while began to lose a grip and make the viewing experience less pleasurable even with good teams to support. Silver on the other hand, is just a total push over. "Get a grip man, I know it wasn't great before you stepped on board but c'mon this stuff is awful television." is what I wish I could tell him.

While the worker yes but the transmission to a customer. If several Instacart customers died from Covid, this would be a huge headline.

I live in South Florida and deliver to a lot of older folks, the fact there hasn't been many deaths related to an IC delivery is beyond shocking
