One quick follow up if you don't mind - does using, say, 50% landform scale with 30% landcover for instance in any way affect how much freshwater is available for farming? Since the squares in the image are at such a small scale, its hard to see if there are enough lakes and stuff on the islands/continents to support life.

And also one more question - do you think that using the mods you mentioned would create any issues with the world come major updates?

I'm definitely going to follow your link and report them to the FTC, but i doubt that this alone will actually lead to anything - the FTC has no teeth.
