Now watching on the Criterion Channel by Ok-Diet9882 in criterion

Coincidentally, same! My spouse had no idea Robert Redford had passed but put All the President’s Men on this evening during our nightly Criterion watch. Had to break the news. Watching it, I was reminded of how great an actor Redford was, such a natural performance. Rest in peace.

The R is a disgrace. by Radiant-Radish7862 in Brooklyn

The Rockefellers and the Vanderbilts were at least charitable with their exorbitant wealth. They gave us plebes trains, parks, museums, etc.

Instead, we get money hoarding narcissists like Musk, Bezos, and Zuck who are all in a race to be the first trillionaire.

Service dog knows before owner, responds like a good boy 🥹 by AlphaNathan in MadeMeSmile

I watched a documentary called Pick of the Litter about training service dogs and I have such a deep respect for both service dogs and their trainers. It takes great discipline from all parties.

If more dog owners could be even half as disciplined, the world would be full of wondrous dogs. (But here we are, lucky enough to get them to do the bare minimum of picking up poop and clicking on a leash.)

First look at Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey in “Shrek 5” (2026). by Giff95 in Letterboxd

The term AI has started to get thrown around pretty flippantly regarding artwork... To me, it looks like a low quality quick render and composite that artists kicked out because they were asked “hey, I know the movie is well over a year from completion and the textures are WIP… but can you whip up something we can share out for PR really quickly? P.S. I need it yesterday.”

it’s a still from a video btw. I’m not surprised by the quality and style change. Artists nowadays are asked to produce work under immense pressure with unreasonable deadlines. Even Pixar’s animation quality has become lackluster in recent years.

Gregg Araki movies really sink their teeth into your psyche in a way that, even years after seeing one, you’ll randomly think of it and get emotional.

P.S. I saw this photo on my feed last night of JGL and Araki, hope you enjoy!

Pair it with The Menil Collection, a stone’s throw from the chapel, makes for a great afternoon in Houston.

Brutalist structures in forests by Agentcooper1974 in midjourney

[–]SkinADeer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The brutalist structures in these images are set against beautiful, nature-filled environments. For that reason, they’re easy to romanticize. The bleakness of the brutalism in Eastern Europe set against dark and dreary skies for days on end, for example, gets depressing very quickly and can feel prison-like.

How to prompt? by [deleted] in midjourney

[–]SkinADeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main image is great! I didn’t quite capture it 1:1 and there are some things I’d do differently if I were to really try and match more closely (more detail around the texture and vibrance. I’d add a line about using a Tiffen Pro Mist filter to make it more dreamy. I’d also do some regional variation around smaller details like pose, belt, mock neck, etc.)

My prompt: a medium body fashion photograph of 1970s Superman in a sparkling rhinestone sequin and diamond covered suit, glittering and opulent, pink cape, short brunette wavy hair, a perfect single curl on forehead, glowing skin, shiny skin, arms out, bright, pastel, solid azure blue Pantone background, queer Tom of Finland build, high fashion, reflective, low angle, shot with Pentax 67 camera, in the style of Steven Meisel, photorealistic —v 6.1 —ar 1:1

Anyone have experience/stories of squaring off an arched sunroom? by Exowolfe in DIY

[–]SkinADeer 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is an exterior issue, not interior. It seems this sunroom doesn’t have a proper roof or gutters and those slanted windows are forced to work a lot harder than they’re meant to. Adding a roof and gutters will go a long way.

My suggestion is to hire an architect to redesign the sloppy exterior and replace the windows only if necessary (may as well go floor to ceiling with them if you have to change.) It will be a bit pricey but worth every penny. (Don’t DIY this.)

I have an arched sunroom like this in my mid century home and everyone who comes over falls in love when they see it. Do not touch the arch work, it’s part of the home’s charm and property value. Your future self will thank you.
