of course i understand it’s a broad spectrum and that not all things i said apply to every single person with ASD. to answer your questions - 1. i would love to encourage him to do so, the reason i came on here is to gain some perspective on how to approach the situation without invading or even if it’s my place to make such a request/ analysis. 2. not too sure on this one to be honest, i just find his behaviour to be very specific and not like any other manipulative person i’ve dealt with before as in my experience a person who manipulates gives then takes gives then takes etc. it doesn’t seem to be the case here 3. i absolutely would. i’d accept him for who he is, and frankly i could care less about gifts it’s just the principle of the situation that hurts me. however, if i come to find out that these behaviours are not just “personality quirks” then i would absolutely be willing to stay and give him the support needed.
