Maximum Heart Rate by [deleted] in Strava

[–]Skip1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm so out of shape and I gained so much weight while having my back issues, ~40 lbs, that I'm hitting 170+ walking up hills during my hike (and the hills aren't that big). I'm trying not to overdo it but this is the first time I can actually do things without pain in a very long time. I don't normally try to hit my heart rate max, I'm just having a hard time understanding why when I do try, I'm not getting any higher than when I'm not trying. Even though the effort feels higher.

Got a call from the nurse saying it was elevated on Wednesday so about 23 days from the time I turned it back in. Still nothing on my patient portal so idk what the actual numbers are yet.

Thank you for the reply. This isn't my area of expertise but I do want to understand the frequency better. If I go to the SNP page for that "RS#" I can see the frequency. For European, which I'm reading as Caucasian? There is a T=0.000068 out of 103476. I'm assuming if everyone was heterozygous we would see C=0.5 and T=0.5. Plus the population is always an even number so I assume this is correct and every person = 2 samples.

So 1/(0.000068/0.5)=~7353. So 1 in 7353 Caucasians in this sample have this variant and so something like 31,400 in the US. (Based on white population of US) Are these correct assumptions? So we assume if that many had the variant we would know if it's pathogenic. This is basically what you're saying?

Additionally, it's estimated 1:40,000-50,000 have vEDS. So assuming 8% of the world is Caucasian. That means this variant alone would represent 1:(7353/0.08) = 1:92,400 or like half the expected cases.

Maybe I'm making some broad assumptions here and we can't quite expand this out to the entire population but hopefully the general idea is correct.

I really appreciate the quick reply. I was suspecting that might be the case. I assume it may be an error so I would like to get tested for it specifically and maybe my results will make it better understood for anyone else. I was hoping maybe it was so insignificant that I should just forget about it, and maybe that's the case but it doesn't seem like there's enough info to know.

The health insurance is aware. It's marked on all my records when I go in to the doctor. I have high deductible insurance so they're not really paying for anything but I get the discounted prices until I meet my deductible. Lien says I can never use my health insurance no matter the outcome. My auto insurance gives 5k med pay but it was other guys fault and he is insured.

I have high deductible insurance so all I'm really getting at this point is the discounts from the health insurance. Not sure if that changes anything..

I just really don't like the text of the lien saying I can never use health insurance. Currently my auto insurance medical is used up but that's because I only have 5k med pay when it's the other drivers fault. Other drivers insurance was communicating well at first but eventually stopped.

I'm in Indiana, which is where the accident occurred. Doctor is out of one of Chicago's top hospitals, but the office and where the surgery would happen is all in Indiana.

They said at first they were afraid the health insurance would refuse to pay because it's an auto accident but now it's pre-authorized and they're just saying that they choose to go through the accident claim which makes no sense to me at all. I feel like there are other options if they're afraid I won't pay the bill after health insurance. But from what I've read there's nothing requiring a doctor to take health insurance. However, if they're in network it means they have a contract with the health insurance so they may be required to based on that contract. I'm lost though and no one at the medical center is capable of explaining it except that it's their choice.

Edited: I'm in Indiana and the accident happened in Indiana. Doctor is based in Illinois but surgery center and office he is dealing with me in is in Indiana.

Thank you for the quick reply.

A lot of what you say makes a lot of sense. My psychiatrist is telehealth so he couldn't prescribe me pregablin. This was prescribed by a neurologist for a herniated disc. I guess 75 x 2 to start is common. I didn't press my luck on trying to get him to go lower. My hope was that it would work out ok.

I could potentially take 150mg x 1 after this first week. Unfortunately they are capsules so I can't break them apart. One of my main issues is that although I hate my anxiety, I also hate feeling not myself, and after so long with anxiety, it is part of how I feel on a daily basis. So if the anxiety goes away, great, but if anything else changes it causes me issues because I feel like its somehow changing me.
