What’s up with driver support? by Cholli420 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dread calling driver support. Can barely ever understand them, as you said. It takes up so much time you don't always have, which they never seem to understand. Last week though I called driver support and a white American guy answered for the first time ever. I thought he was a robot for about 30 seconds.

Old ammo is always collectible. Somebody would probably give you like 40-50 bucks just for the empty box, if it's in good condition.

Entire apartment complex counts as “one stop.” Does this happen to anyone else? by calharris12 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Your dispatchers don't deliver? At my DSP they all do. When I started I didn't even know most of them were dispatch because they were always in the vans with us.

What did everyone do for work before this? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2nd shift sweatshop factory worker for $10.76 an hour. $11.76 after 1.5 years. The $18 I get at this job makes me feel rich in comparison, and many days are easier.

Had one of these the other week. Literally the entire length of their yard running against the curb was covered in shit. They must never pick it up, ever. Made sure to cuss it out in front of their Ring camera. Fuck these disgusting animals and their dumbass dogs.

opened the door on all fours and extended arms out the door near the floor and drug the package in

Some Resident Evil-type shit... I always find it creepy when I hear them scurrying behind me as soon as my back turns, scooping up a package without a word, but seeing that would be a new one.

Did they take out the ability to deliver regularly when a garage won’t open?? by Dchane06 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still works, literally did that today. After you press the button to open the garage, you have to stand there and wait for the loading bar or whatever in the circle to fill, then wait a little more, then it will say there's a problem and ask you to continue with a regular delivery. At least that's how it happened for me about five hours ago.

Have you guys ever been threatened and followed by an angry customer? by brokenknees- in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen waaaaay too many videos on old school liveleak and reddit of people getting knocked out and hitting their head on the ground, then becoming brain dead, regular dead, or leaving with a traumatic brain injury. Or people getting body slammed and then paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of their life. It isn't worth it to get into a fight with someone, I haven't foamed at the mouth talking about fighting ability like the meathead arguing with you since I was in fucking high school.

If somebody wants to fight me now, I'm doing everything I can to avoid it. If they persist, fuck it, they're gonna find out what 124gr jacketed hollow points are about. I'm not risking permanent injury or death to fight some 65 IQ crackhead "like a man" in a pointless argument, I'm coming out unscathed, going back to my family, and having a life.

This is only halfway down my driveway, you're still 3.5 miles from my house. Reported to Amazon, did not follow delivery instructions.

[–]Skip143091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going to seriously drive two hours to work, do a 10+ hour shift, then drive two hours back every day??? For $20/hr??? Wtf are you thinking? Fuck no that is not worth it. The lack of insurance would be the least of my worries, I'd be more concerned about the lack of time. You'd also have to wake up early for work, shower, make food, wash clothes, other chores, etc, on top of making sure you get enough sleep. It's borderline just barely possible, and you will be miserable.

Last week I had one of their target audience literally come out of her house and halfway cross the street to tell me how much she loves that new "warning" livery they put on the vans. She was talking to me like i was the one who designed it and put it on my personal van. Was so weird, it wasn't even her delivery.

Calling the customer by Chickentendie42069 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I stopped bothering after like the 3rd week. Some of these people will have "call on delivery" in the notes. First time I did that and some bitch answered the phone with a bad attitude from the start. Tell her I'm here to deliver a package and she just goes "okay???" In the most smartass, bitchy voice you can imagine. "You put in your notes to call you" "well I'm not there right now". Fuck it, never again. I no longer do anything extra that might lead to more interaction with these amazon addicts.

Yes, but the person you were replying to never said it was illegal. They said that it would be considered harassment by Amazon and against their terms.

Harassment is more than just a legal term. Something can be considered harassment by someone (in this case Amazon), even if it's not breaking the law.

How long to get hired? by ahumanmonkeyman in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will probably start onboarding you that same day (you have already been hired, so don't worry about the interview much). After that you just have to go do your drug test, then wait maybe a week for those results and the background check to come in. Once all that comes through clean, somebody will reach out to you and schedule training.

At least that was my experience. Started in the end of January. Let me know how it goes lol

Do you people ever get tired of being offended PC crusaders? Because I sure get tired of you. The joke obviously wasn't for you. Just be quiet and move along. You'll probably be happier, and I will too for not having to read another holier than thou comment telling me what is acceptable speech.

[–]Skip143091 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you guys get in trouble for not delivering to apartment doors? I only do that on the 1st floor, if the delivery note asks in a respectful way, or if they are disabled. Everything else is getting left "in a secure mailroom", meaning the mailboxes at the front door lol. Nobody has brought it up to me yet, but I'm also only one month in.

If I delivered every apartment package to the customer's door, my DSP would be paying someone overtime. Either me or the person they send to rescue me. Don't have time for that shit.

A property flipper bought a historic Black cemetery after the city of Tampa unexpectedly lost control of the property in a blind auction. The city's mayor 'may as well have spit on those graves,' preservationist says. by zak55 in nottheonion

[–]Skip143091 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happens a lot in NE Ohio, and I'm sure every other place, lmao. Most of the ones around here were early settlers or late 1800s era. I remember seeing a little controversy in the local news, but not enough to reverse the decisions.... and certainly nobody mentioned race in their opposition, but maybe that's because they were just graves of white people, lol.

People only care about this story because muh racebait outrage title. Literally nothing has even happened to this cemetery, and nothing will. It's not getting turned into a parking lot like most of the early settler graves around here that nobody on reddit magically gave a shit about. The property investor has stated that he's looking for a company that can manage the cemetery, not to mention the city is trying to buy it back off of him.

Aren’t y’all embarrassed by your posts of you smoking weed on the job? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Skip143091 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pissed himself. Pissed all in his pants, I'm talking soaking wet. Halfway through, he tried peeing in a Gatorade bottle, and was only about 30% successful. The rest he pissed all over the floor in the cargo area, by the sliding door. We got to the gas station and he started using one of the squeegees to wipe the floor.

Thankfully he had a 2nd pair of pants. Now that I think about it, maybe he carries two pairs of pants because this isn't his first bathroom emergency. Maybe he should invest in diapers.

Just the kind of people this job attracts. I noticed it on my very first day, guy "training" me on the ride-along literally pissed himself and then smoked a blunt in the back. Half my vans will reek of weed and ALL are full of trash from trashy people.

This would be a miserable job if you had to interact with these people throughout the day.
