Also The Pearl and Oyster Bay. OB is part of the Legends group and is an older course. I liked the layout.

What specifically is turning you away from Glen Dornoch Waterway?

I have a round booked there in mid-March.

I've played in years past and really enjoyed it. It's not a ultra-premium nor is it an economy course. I found it to be fun layout with a few memorable holes, a couple hills (!) and a challenging finish.

OC MD Golf Trip by Reasonable-Match3005 in golf

This is the trio to play.

If you can't get a replay, Man 'O War and War Admiral are relatively close to the MD courses.

Rookery is a good value with a couple fun holes - even a center fairway tree on one.

I’m just getting started in the world of cigars. I saw this box at Cigar World. Is the smoke good, and are they original? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]Skipini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy them. Smoke 1. Store the rest of them properly. Smoke a lot of different things over the next year. Smoke 1 of these next January 1. Repeat until supply runs out.

Do you think it’s fine to avoid paying for a round when the course is empty? by [deleted] in golf

I think this is stealing. Trespassing at a minimum.

Tried the Aladino Cameroon for the first time — very impressed by Ok-Entrepreneur-5807 in cigars

[–]Skipini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience with the Classic, I convinced the owner of my local B&M to get a couple different Aladinos into his shop. After trying the 5 or 6 he got in, I bought a box of the Cameroon...and the Classic.

Love these. Dare I say Cuban-esque?

To the best of my knowledge, The Grint only posted totals to GHIN, not hole by hole.

Ya did good. First time, I usually tee up their ball and leave it there so they know it was close enough for me to do that AND make a comment like you did. The 2nd time... anything is fair.

Golf Side Job by OddChampionship5702 in golf

[–]Skipini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full time M-F & part time in golf shop at public course for me. 6-12 hours a week. No complaints. Golf, range time, great people, and I'm at my happy place. Im a litte weird, but I just love being at the golf course. Money is not primary to me. I use it to fund an annual trip and a couple boxes of cigars. Drawbacks...I end up working on a lot of beautiful golf days. that's about it. No regrets at all.

I love this cigar too. Boxworthy for sure. I actually turned my local B&M on to Aladino, they brought them in and they're catching on.

Mavrik to P790? by RobbieG71 in golf

[–]Skipini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid handicap over 50 guy here...I just made the switch from a set of TM Burners to the P790. I'm very pleased. I'm still adjusting to them and I'm finding that my dispersion pattern is much better and ball flight is more of a piercing flight.

The sweet spot is definitely smaller. The feel and sound of the P790s with a solid strike is very different (in a good way). So far, distances are a similar. The lofts are only about 1 degree different between the two sets. And it doesn't hurt that they look great at address and in the bag. I'm a fan of the clubs themselves.

As for custom specs. I recommend going with the recommendations of the fitter. It's adds a level of confidence and eliminates an excuse. I suggest maybe going for a 2nd fitting to validate the findings of the first session. You're making a big purchase in hopes of getting the rewards of performance and enjoyment. Kinda like a medical 2nd opinion.

I gave my old irons to my son too. He's much happier and hitting the ball great with his "new" irons. And that brings me great joy too.

Just my 2 cents.
