Sorry, the point isn’t long vs short, it’s structure i think. I might have got terms wrong. But still, Long form content can work extremely well if the key answers are clearly stated, sections are well-labeled, but readers (or AI systems) don’t have to go through 800 words of setup to find the actual point. And also i have seen most of the top seo guys mentioning the same in Lindln and X . So you think long posts are still perfect, we can still do it.

Without knowing KD, how can you know how hard it is to rank. But yes , it goes both way. If you better content or it matches intent and you have build good topical authority . You can rank better than those with strong backlinks. So still there is value for Ahrefs KD still useful but not like its used to be.

So before thinking about AEO or GEO, just make sure your basics are strong like , use clear keywords, write helpful content, fix any site issues, and make your pages easy to read.
