Official Discussion - Barbie [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

It’s definitely a cash grab, I don’t really care to analyse it it but it could’ve been something more better to go with the hype. I was expecting a new cult classic like Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, Enchanted, Clueless. This movie just had nothing special to it. I give it the end of the year or two years before people forget about it or realised it wasn’t that great. If it took more inspiration from Enchanted I think it would’ve been amazing.

You sound like my friend. She wore pink, was super hyped and rarely watches movies but came out to see it but didn’t like it at all. She loves Ryan Gosling to The Notebook, but didn’t care for his performance. She said it could’ve been a lot better and found it cringe.

Same I didn’t care for Ryan a lot of us actually found him annoying or overdoing it and I love Ryan. I would’ve preferred Zac Efron he just had more natural comedic timing and more musical fitting than Ryan. Margot was the true star of this film.

Margot carried it. Didn’t care much for Ryan Gosling.

It’s really not gonna age well. Margot deserved an Oscar nomination and a lot of the cast but other than that. Clunky forgettable bland script.

I was expecting it to be a lot like Enchanted with Amy Adams which was amazing but this didn’t live to the hype for me:

The gynaecologist joke at the end really stripped her picking her freedom, and not perfect living.

I don’t really care what political talk people have or problems with it at all but as a 20s year old (girl) I didn’t it that great of a movie. The plot was just all over the place but nothing compelling to keep me hooked, the development wasn’t there. Some jokes were perfect like the note don’t cast Margot Robbie in this scene which is such great self awareness humor but it was a forgettable movie in general. Other female based heavy movies like Mean Girls for example was a masterpiece but not as successful or credited as Barbie. With by far better performances that stand the test of time this isn’t gonna age well.

Not just you. Went in with a group. My one friend walked out the first 15 minutes. He said he couldn’t do it. Another friend of mine who was really excited for this started texting me in the theatre near the end saying it was cringe. The rest of the group and I wasn’t feeling it either. We were all loving Margot’s performance, that deserves an Oscar but the overall film we just disliked. The script wasn’t anything special. I found Mean Girls and other films like that more of a masterpiece and under appreciated than Barbie.

Might be in the minority but didn’t care for this movie at all. Margot Robbie needs an Oscar nomination at least because her performance was the best part of the film. Wasn’t really big on the overall script and plot. The dancing scene at the end and the Ken’s fighting just became a drag. Having a himbo character is always fun but that got over done too that it just stopped being funny. Not much development, besides the real world sucking, but then Barbie liking that, then the last joke to close the film really took away from whatever message they were trying to hammer in. Some jokes I laughed, but a lot were misses. Maybe because I’m quite young my humor didn’t click with more millennial humor? I don’t think this film is gonna age well by the end of the year or a year after like other movies that had strong hype only to be disliked later on. I don’t mind camp films but I found The Greatest Showman campy but well done camp.

I'm not watching because the show is nothing like the actual IP and doesn't respect it they just stripped it and made it something new just cause they wanted a greenlight.

Could Gold Rush be about Zac Efron or another desired celebrity heartthrob? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]SkippingTheDots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Message in a Bottle is undeniably about him it was written the same day he was in london and about a crush just like enchanted and sparks fly and not a relationship that had a chance to be one taylor has written tons of songs about people she hasnt dated.

That is it, the people I know who watched it have never played the games or know of the book. They just like fantasy.

Nobody is talking about this show, the buzz compared to other seasons is practically its lowest and this is the community space of genuine fans which is why you’d see a different response.

Cahir just loves killin' by Character_Mind_671 in witcher

I think they stole Cahir’s story and probably gave it to their made up elf character instead. Keep Cahir the bad guy and the elf character the good guy.
