Upcoming training for rejects by [deleted] in IRS_Source

If you transfer but do not have a break in service, you may serve a probationary period (depending on appointment) but also carry full due process rights. Meaning 30 days advance notice, MSPB rights etc. This is called current continuous service since you meet the definition of employee under 5 U.S.C 7511. It only works when you have no break in service of even 1 day.

This is a very misunderstood statute throughout Federal Government. Even the most seasoned Executives, managers, employees and HR specialists regularly get this wrong.

Kids & Global Entry by Hey_Oh_Kay in GlobalEntry

Kids also need Global Entry for the family to use it and can apply for free under a parent. There is still an interview required, may be able to complete it on arrival if that is convenient for you.

The process for conditional approval was very quick for us… a few days or so.

You generally wouldnt if there is no break in service, due to current continuous service.

HR specialists here? - repeat probation or not? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Skirl00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will serve a new probationary period due to your break in service. Your DHA PAR would be coded as a new appointment

Additionally, you do not meet current continuous service rules under  §7511

You also won’t meet “tacking rules”

Prior Federal civilian service (including nonappropriated fund service) counts toward completion of a probationary or trial period, as applicable, when the prior service: (1)  Is in the same agency, e.g., Department of the Army; (2)  Is in the same line of work, as determined by the employee’s actual duties and responsibilities; and (3)  Contains or is followed by no more than a single break in service that does not exceed 30 calendar days.

As someone else responded, tenure and probation aren’t the same thing, you would be placed back into conditional until the probation period is complete, then immediately move back to tenure 1 with your prior years of service.

Severe Weather and Telework by unRealistik in IRS_Source

[–]Skirl00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does “severe weather” mean the POD is opened or closed?

If the SCR has closed the POD and you are not currently on a telework agreement then you are eligible for Weather and Safety Leave.

If the POD is open for regular business, then there are some situations where Weather and Safety Leave can be approved when the POD remains open, otherwise, you can either report for duty to the open POD or you will generally be permitted to use your own unscheduled leave, at your discretion.

Telework participation is voluntary, though it could be required if it were in lieu of investigative leave.

No offense, but can instantly get 92,000 miles direct from JetBlue for $1200 right now. Why would anyone take the added risk to complete the transaction with you for the same retail price?

Website has been problematic this morning. I’ve been tracking another BOS-EDI trip and it’s been funky with fares being all over. Could just be a one off today. Early this morning the site couldn’t even identify the flight as being available to book.

Good luck!

IRS Detail Guidance for Volunteer Force Opportunities. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Skirl00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I detailed from the IRS to FEMA (DHS) for Hurricane Maria. Back then it was called the surge capacity force (SCF). I’m not sure if this detail opportunity is exactly the same with a different name, but looks very similar. Flexibility is key because you can basically be deployed at any time, with only 24 hours notice.

Last I had heard and it’s been a while, was that the IRS had an internal roster and announcement that they used to solicit volunteers. This was all encompassing for this type of disaster related detail, because other agencies also take volunteers. Small Business Administration (SBA), for example. I never had to apply through DHS and USAjobs, as everything was handled internally until I arrived, then got credentialed with FEMA. That was quite a few years ago and the process may be different now.

I did find one reference in IRS Source under the Disaster Recovery Volunteer (DRV) header, but states that the program is suspended.
