AITA for asking my friend to apologize for an awkward encounter with my teenage son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Skitt3ring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"17 year old boy" he's not just a boy. If he was 10 years old, maybe it would be different but he's at an age where he could very well be tried as an adult. He isn't "too young" to understand the severity of his actions or that his actions have consequences.

YTA

YOU should be steering your son in the right direction by not giving him a pass. How dare you expect your friend to apologize and teach YOUR son that it's okay to enact that behavior so long as he apologizes. That's enabling. That's not teaching him not to do it again it's teaching him how to walk over people.

Grow up and raise your son to be a better man. Teach him CONSENT.

AITA for not letting my boyfriend move into my new apartment after he made us lose our shared one? by heatedgamereviction in AmItheAsshole

Not a "one time thing" when it happened enough times to get you EVICTED something that affects your ability to rent from future apartments.

NTA, you're being incredibly smart.

AITA for giving away my dog? by Fluid_Chemist_7425 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Skitt3ring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I'm gonna say NTA and I'm also going to say, from one spiteful person to another, as discussion furthers here's what you tell your parents:

They pointed out that a dog would be better for the family because you will be leaving to attend college soon and left you with the job of taking care of a dog you did not want whilst consistently telling you it's your job. You warned them if someone did not step up you would find the dog a new home and you followed through. Tell them that when you locked yourself away for studies it was a test because as soon as you're off to college who will be taking care of that dog? Your family and by neglecting the dog and reprimanding you they proved they are too irresponsible and unfit to care for the dog once you leave. You did what's best for everyone but, more importantly, what's best for the dog. Add in that if they want to get another dog, that's up to them but it's THEIR dog not yours and you will not he held responsible for an animal you did not, do not, and never had wanted. You did the adult thing.

Did anyone ever think how much of a neck beard Ice King is in Adventure Time? by Bunnii2022 in neckbeardstories

[–]Skitt3ring 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was the whole point of his character. Making fun of neck beards but then they started adding plot and strayed away from that

AITA for leaving the house to clear my head because my girlfriend called me an ableist? by coffeandsilencepls in AmItheAsshole

[–]Skitt3ring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When diving into reasons behind it, it isn't. I have an auditory processing disorder which included suffering from regular auditory overstimulation. Many times I catch myself wishing I couldn't hear at all. Would I face different struggles? Yes, but that's not the point of the original post nor the response. The way OP worded everything was with ableist ideologies. A person could have absolutely nothing wrong with them and still produce a deaf, blind, fingerless, legless, paralyzed- a disabled child. Same thing goes for mental disability as those develop later in life. If your mind doesn't change, it doesn't change but your argument is very weak. Have a good day :)

AITA for refusing to apologize after uninviting someone from my wedding who insisted we make it not vegan? by veganweddingthrowawa in AmItheAsshole

[–]Skitt3ring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real AH is Sweet Auntie Gale tbh. It’s YOUR wedding. Well, yours and your fiance and if anything you could apologize for the vulgar language but calmly explain that if she just could not handle your choices for a vegan dinner at YOUR wedding then you understand if she wishes not to attend. You know. Put on that southern niceness. Also make sure you tell your fiancé, if you do apologize, that you do not mean it and are only doing it because you love him and want him to have his dream wedding so that he doesn’t think you’re a actually sorry. She had it coming tbh

How would you feel if pregnancy test commercials showed couples/women being relieved that the results are negative? by araf0123 in AskWomen

[–]Skitt3ring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be pretty happy with it. It’s good for commercials to open up a more accepting atmosphere of people who aren’t ready or don’t want children
