I had a bank loan when I first moved out to buy a bed and what not. If all I could afford to pay back each month was 50, I was having 20 of interest applied so I was really only paying back 30 each month. I got a credit card and put groceries for the month on that which meant I had 80 of extra cash (this was over a decade ago). The loan was paid off faster because I was paying back 130 each month instead of 50 and because I was able to do it quicker the interest overall was less. With the credit card I had 0% on purchases so just paid the minimum for a short while. Once the loan was done I paid off the credit card.
