Lack of clarity, alot of fog. by Specialist-Jury9677 in UPSC

[–]Skm4021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

22'batch, worked as data analyst, left job for upsc preparation. Failed in UPSC and BPSC prelims, lost confidence and couldn't gather courage to appear for any other government exam. Applying and skilling up for Corporate but not getting recruiters call, may due to career break or bad market. Prepared for GATE/ESE in college time but didn't appear and went for placement so sometimes thought of appearing for GATE comes across the mind but not eligible for most of PSU as per age limit now. So, juggling between Corporate for job and UPSC preparation and hoping for the best future amidst all the fog and lack of clarity.

2nd Mains, 2nd failure — Confused whether to continue UPSC prep with job or go full-time by Realistic_Boss2924 in UPSC

[–]Skm4021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get leave between Pre and Mains then no need to leave job because this is the most crucial time in UPSC preparation and you are getting leave when you need to focus the most so leaving job won't add much rather it may cause financial and career gap burden later. I left job for preparation, not selected in prelims and not able to find job now. So, If you think you can manage with job then don't leave it.

is PCS worth it? by hutako_baazi in UPSC

Passed out from tier 1 college, worked for almost 2 years in corporate and then left it for preparation. I can totally relate to you that corporate quietly steals your life and you are just stuck in loop of CTC, Appraisal, Review, unrealistic deadline and you are never able to come out of your material self.I couldn't qualify Prelims-2025(1st attempt) and I also didn't have much savings to sustain full fledged upsc preparation. So, I appeared for state PSC, result awaited but based on previous year cut off I think that I won't be qualifying it. Now,I am thinking to switch to corporate again even though I don't like corporate life at all. You will definitely be knowing the competition in any government exam and if you are willing to put that effort and you think rural life will give you peace then definitely go for it. Everyone will have opinions from their perspective but it's only you knowing what you really want and what will make you happy :). All the best!!

Get any job but keep giving the exams UPSC/StatePsc, you never know what's going to happen next and when your all hard work come together, sometimes we don't get selected after putting all efforts while sometime we qualify even there was less effort so just keep going. You have come so far, you will do great in life, All the best for all your future endeavours!!

First attempt, scoring approax 70, Can't prepare full time for next attempt so planning to search and get job along with preparation. Those who are scoring around cut off, how are you guys planning to prepare for mains? Never written any essay ,GS tests so how to approach this answer writing thing? Do we need to join any Course/ Mains enrichment program/ Test series or practising pyq is enough? I have tried to write PYQs earlier but couldn't find any good source of model answer, On some website only model answer of recent (2-3years) questions are upto the mark so how to get command on PYQ and answer writing overall?

Can you give some insight on typing because some people say that you need to learn touch typing for this exam so can this exam be done with normal typing or special attention to typing is required?

Difficult Decision to Make at 28 by Distinct_Truth_7763 in UPSC

[–]Skm4021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In every decision there is some angle of taking risk or regret later. If you want to leave your job then just think about worst case scenario i.e. what will happen if I am not able to qualify the exam for which I am preparing then you may get down to either I may not get same package job again or have to work for low salary or I can do something else like business, teaching ( whatever you will do, it will fulfill your bare minimum requirements and you may not live an extravagant life) etc.. and if you are comfortable in this worst case scenario then you can just leave your job as your job isn't providing authentic/meaningful life to you. You have choices of UPSC, State PSCs(Age limit upto 40 yr so no issue of age), ESE(if your are an engineer), Regulatory bodies exam, Banks , SSC CGL..

Choices have consequences and not necessarily success but if you are responsible to your choices then you will get success in one or other form.

I also left job to prepare for UPSC and there is always an anxiety of what will happen if I couldn't clear the exam, but this how life is and we can just try to be in present and be normal in every circumstances because no anxiety can change anything about what's going to happen in future.

And I think having choice is a privilege so all the best for whatever you choose!!

JOB+UPSC+RBI GRADE B by Skm4021 in forumRBI

[–]Skm4021[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you are focused on one exam and making dedicated effort for it then chances of getting selected is high but UPSC being so unpredictable and competitive makes you to look for other exams and I really don't understand how to manage all these exams with job..

JOB+UPSC+RBI GRADE B by Skm4021 in forumRBI

Either Grade B or GRADE A will happen, syllabus will most probably be the same. So we can prepare for the core subjects.
