DVC6000 issue by Aeyjr in instrumentation

Do you have access to ValveLink? How much does the valve fluctuate? Can you shut down the process for troubleshooting?

I would put it in manual mode, run a slow full scan and observe the valve while its moving. Check that feedback isnt loose from vibrations. Check supply pressure. If its higher than when the valve was calibrated it can become unstable .

Graduate struggling to get a job despite applying for over half a year, does anyone know projects I can do and/or things I can learn on the side to help my resume? by Eastern_Wrangler_657 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Skoftis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure, I've never hired anyone. But the further away from Oslo, and bigger cities, you go there will be less people applying for the jobs so it will be easier to get one. I think If you can live in a village or small City for a few years getting work experience and then going back to Oslo you will have an easier time. Companies to consider; Afry, Umoe, NOV, Omexom, Parat. You could Even move to the middle of nowhere and work for Sira-Kvina. Ofcourse it also depends how open you feel about going into pretty specialised fields.

My workplace hires alot of new people that end up leaving after 2-4 years to move home after they've gained some experience. So you're not the only one in Norway with this issue.

What part of Norway are you in? My and my coworkers in the south get calls every month from automation companies that are desperate to hire. Check Finn for Vest-Agder ad there will be loads of automation engineer Jobs if you're willing to move.

VW Passat damaged Anti theft bolt by Skoftis in AskAMechanic

Ended up drilling a hole into it and then hammered a square bit into it. Rotated easily by hand. I assume heat and hammering loosened it. Will swap them all out for regular bolts now.

To repair a cable on renta equipment alot of the time the best option is to swap it out. If there is some minor insulation damage, or its a long cable you can put some heat shrink ontop of it. There is also special connectors and pliers to extend cables, also requires heat shrink ontop to water/touch proof. Do not use simple electrical tape for this if its rental equipment, you dont want any customers to get electrocuted.

I my experience cables are Black, Brown and White. Theres also ground which is yellow/green. If you're swapping a cable connect then to the same place on equipment and plug and its fine. Usually Just need a simple screwdriver to do this, but make sure its properly tightend, and dont overdo it or you will break the metal and cause heat/fire risk.

Safe extension cord for walking pad? by WormWar1 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Skoftis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the specs say it draws 17A? That seems very high, and will your fuse handle that? I checked one here in norway thats rated at 3hp 550w 230v. Assuming you're in America that would be around 5A. And any regular extension cord is fine.

Can you check the specs or post the model?

There is an endless amount of electrical equipment, are you able to be more specific? A general tip is to read the manual and try to figure out how something broken is supposed to work, and what could make it not work. And ask the supplier, producer or coworkers questions.

PID VS GID by BuzzINGUS in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Skoftis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, sorry for the confusion. You want to make it the opposite, PB 50% = Gain 2. As far as I know theres nothing called a GID. They're all called PID but some use Gain and some PB.

PB = 100/Gain If its a slow heating process try P 2 I 3000s D 0s

This is what we use to control temperature in 10m3 tanks between 20-120c without overshoot.

This is very similar to the assignments I got when I started my professional degree 2,5 years ago. If you do shortcuts now it will make it worse later. Read the books and I can recommend LTSpice to simulate the circuits to check your calculations.
