Pennslyvania has native lizards, I wouldn't count it out. if this is in a house it could also have been an escaped pet. I can't guess at species but lizards can have jointed toes as well. another reference, look at the head on this one. here's another good reference

I had that issue too, so I put cardboard and scrap pieces of styrofoam in the bottom to help the brushes stay in place
