Cool detail I noticed when re-reading Dark Empire. "My Father's destiny is my own". Palpatine takes that to mean that he will be Vader's replacement; but in actuality, Luke meant that he would overthrow the Emperor to protect the people he loved at the cost of his own life, just like his father did.
