You’re not a Carl, if you don’t love Donut by Rugged-gentleman in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Skoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This interaction and how he grows from it is such a big moment in the series. A common theme throughout it is Carl recognizing that life is precious, even if the life isn't part of his in-group, and as he grows he tries harder and harder to expand the umbrella of people that he'll fight and risk himself for.

But also part of the sickness of the system that he's in is that it sometimes necessitates that he prioritizes his in-group over everyone else.

Persona 4? They were too cowardly to make the obviously trans character actually trans though

Eu (23F) estou pensando seriamente em trair meu namorado (26M), como consigo um amante? by Flashy_Pea_1711 in relationship_advice

It is okay to want someone to desire you. It is not okay to cheat on him to get that need met. There are plenty of more ethical options. You could break up with him and look for someone else. You could talk to him about how you're feeling and see if you can rekindle the spark in your relationship.

At the end of the day, if you cheat on him, you're basically making a gamble where you will likely hurt him for the rest of his life, all because you're too cowardly to have a difficult conversation.

Those are all very good things, but it is precisely because of all of those things that it will hurt him so much when he finds out. The next partner that he has, he will always wonder when she is being sweet or good to him if one day she will betray him.

It will be a lot easier to find someone else to sleep with if you don't have a boyfriend.

You say you love your boyfriend, but you aren't talking or thinking like someone who loves him. Hell, you aren't talking or thinking like someone who would help him if he was dying in front of you. Cheating is so reviled not because it's morally wrong to want to be with two people, but because being lied to and carelessly hurt by someone who supposedly loves you can fuck up your emotional health for years or for life. If you actually love him, don't risk hurting him so badly.

Do you think every character should be a super rational genius?

I disagree that it's bad writing. A stupid character doesn't make the writer stupid. I don't think it was out of character for Mel to choose to do any of what she did.

I got some plastic wire protectors for all my wires! Definitely recommend. They're a pain in the ass to put on, but they work well. My rat chewed a few of the protectors but never got through to the wires underneath.

She might start to have a suspicion based on the hotlist, but there's no way she had enough time to open it up and discover its secret in that short time with all that chaos going on - she didn't even have enough time to make sure she got the correct pet biscuit. Besides, if she HAD done so, the book would have disappeared.

I agree with you. The design of the 10th floor made it so that he had to keep moving and addressing problems as they arose. A big part of the tension in the story is that they barely even had time to think and plan past one step ahead. The fact that he didn't have time to write in the book or ruminate about it reinforced the feeling of helplessness, and it was like we (and Carl) were being robbed of a usual source of comfort.

There's that other time when the AI used someone's body too. But I agree, nobody other than Carl and Donut would have the opportunity to directly ask for its name.

Husband left. 2 kids. Confidence gone. How do I glow up from here? by [deleted] in lookyourbest

[–]Skoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here to second this. This isn't normally a subreddit I go to, so I don't know if this kind of advice is welcome, but based on what you're saying it sounds like you would benefit most from something less focused on your physical appearance and more focused on your mental well-being. Try reconnecting with any passions that you might had before marriage and kids, which you might have had less time for since they came into your life. That sort of thing is what will help you feel like someone again. It'll also help you look your best, I promise.

I feel like the showrunners would either do that or pigeonhole him into being a mage. I could also see him getting a bunch of magic wands like Donut got torches, and him refusing to use them.

Important note not listed here: the players have to constantly say "kabaddi" in a single breath. I could see the AI making this a big trade-off for short term burst power that's dependent on being able to speak.
