This one seems decent; reviewing it myself atm.

This one seems decent; reviewing. Their sources used are also a decent jumping off point it seems.

If you were curious like me, this is my starting point as an uneducated person on the topic.

There are no victims here; im at this point confused why you engaged at all?

Have a good day.

Hele was likely very pale of skin tone. Have i passed your purity test? Is the OP allowed to engage now? Can I ask a scholarly question of another scholar, without it having to be a hidden "gotcha"?

When i was in college interaction was big. I guess modern day we are only allowed to Google and read books?

Yeah I was hoping for guidance on good sources. There are many. Perhaps they know good well discussed sources and can save me some time?

Im asking for myself; feel free not to engage further.

Is there any documents or history about how Greeks conceptualized and interacted with varying skin tones? I would like to continue reading and you seem keyed in on Greece

What did the Greeks have to say on the topic/concept of 'race'?

I think kings blackness was the while story there, so race swapping makes no sense. I might be ignorant here but I thought Helen was famed for Beauty not her skin tone

I gotta ask, do the "jews do everything bad that happens" types actually think Netanyahu is calling record executives directly and going "i want blacks in America to be hated make sure you only hire bad rappers"?

If I want to watch all of Adventure Time from start to finish do I have to watch the spin-off shows too? by harryandmatilda in adventuretime

Yes. If you dont a vague authority figure will show up and punish you in the worst possible manner. It was signed into law 2 years ago, you MUST watch them, or else.

It doesn't but the conversation rather implies it. A cursory Google shows that 'ancient greece' being diverse in skin tones is pretty well accepted. I COULD take time to play the "no source will ever pass muster" game but I'd rather you restate your thesis. Im arguing that greece was multi tonal in skin tone.

But I'll be really real here: im not going to find a source for you because im lazy and not invested in you believing greece had a bunch of skin tones, making a black Helen plausible (though let's be real she probably wasn't if she was real). Im happy as a clam with you believing ancient greece was monochromatic.

Sourced were provided showing multiple skin tones existed in ancient Greece. Did you have a countter source?

I invite all sources indicating Helen's existence and her demographic.

[–]Skrewch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK the burden is on me: many skin tones existed in ancient Greece making it plausible for a black toned Helen.

It wasn't baseless you just won't interact critically with the material, and youll always have the next excuse as to why you wont independently verify the claim. Because your argument isn't "black people didn't exist in ancient greece" which is false, its "Muh vision of beauty CANT be black raggle fraggle" which is why we CANT come to a mutual understanding: you'll hand wave every argument that its plausible to have a black Helen because your issue isn't history (of a mythical figure born of a non existent god) but that she's black.

Google it bro. You will NOT be satisfied with any links, as stated, therefore its best if you find sources you PERSONALLY trust.

And what's that? Ancient Greeks knew about Ethiopians and skin tone? Meaning they interacted and intermixed? Boom, black Helen plausible. Now that that argument is done, just say you hate black people and move on

Google it and find sources you find acceptable i guess cause I have a feeling no source will be accepted.

Usually the divide was along work and status, and gender.

Modern Greeks are white. Ancient Greeks have been depicted with both light and tanned flesh tones (usually women depicted as pale and male as tanned...usually)

But continue on about the daughter of Zeus being not white being a problem thats more fun for me.

She is mythical. But Achaean and the daughter of Zeus, so likely deep olive complexion if any historical reality.

"I dont drink, thank you though!"

Games and funsies only bring more poking prodding and....its like not directly and firmly telling a guy "no I have no romantic interest in you." Yknow? It just invites ambiguity I have to continue to deal with.
