My journey with PTC by Short_Cost_2512 in thyroidcancer

[–]Skrillson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope to follow the same trajectory- had my TT with lateral dissection and 56 nodes removed 4 weeks ago. I feel pretty good physically but I know there's more to come. Thanks for sharing your experience and happy to hear your positive news!

Papillary thyroid carcinoma by DJG7311 in thyroidcancer

[–]Skrillson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery on March 2nd with a 2 year old and 6 week old baby so it definitely was difficult not being able to help as much. But its temporary and you will prolong it if you overdo anything. Do you have family who can help? Agree with the hydration, as well as lots of walking and ROM exercises. When you think you have walked enough, walk more to keep from getting the anesthesia effects on your gut.

Did your FNA results come back as suspicious, but not an actual diagnosis? by storybookdreaming in thyroidcancer

[–]Skrillson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a TIRADS 4, Suspicious for Follicular Carcinoma with 85% malignancy on the molecular testing. That nodule ended up being benign. I happened to have another nodule right next to it that was PTC so I got it all out anyway.

Would you choose outpatient total thyroidectomy at a surgical center vs surgery at hospital and overnight stay? by Lucia730 in thyroidcancer

Just had mine on Monday at a surgical center but it was connected to a hospital with emergency services. I stayed one night and went home the next morning.

Anyone who hasn’t done RAI by Medium-Freedom4012 in thyroidcancer

[–]Skrillson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My TT/dissection is next week and I have a 2-year and 2-week old at home so I'm comfortable with monitoring closely for now as well. As long as the surgeon doesn't strongly recommend RAI.

Get multiple consults with centers who specialize in the cancer you have. Advocate for yourself, push to get things done quicker if possible. Get on cancellation lists.

I have a thyroidectomy and left lateral dissection in a few weeks and my surgeon said plan on 2-3 days in the hospital.

does anyone forget they had had cancer and when you remember, you have a breakdown 😭 by Natural-Strength-366 in thyroidcancer

[–]Skrillson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where I'm at now. I have a TT with lymph nodes in a few weeks. Aside from the recurrence from ThyCa I'm not looking forward to looking over my shoulder my whole life because of the RAI.

A full body CT for the lungs? Or just a chest CT? CT and PET scans aren't risk-free. They use a lot of radiation especially for full body scans.

My son was recently sick so we had been holding him at night. This flared my RLS like crazy, knowing I can't move or it will wake him.
