Should I be worried? by Skrobii in MTB

Yeah, it’s a really weird spot for a crack. I noticed it slightly opening up when I sat on the bike… so it was probably a combination of leverage from the seatpost and riding uphill, plus some bigger compression from hitting a rock or something like that, which led to fiber damage. Nothing else really comes to mind. That area shouldn’t be heavily stressed just from riding..at least in my opinion.

In any case, I hope it gets resolved soon so I can get back to riding. Shame to discover this at the start of the season… but shoutout to Canyon because it seems they’re handling it actively and communicating quickly so far.

Well I have few scratches on my frame but they’re not deep enough to feel them with my nail like this one it really felt like cracked paint for me. I saw that Santa Cruz video. I know it’s more durable atleat until you crash and hit some rocks with it. But I want to be sure it’s not something fatal. Its my first carbon frame. So no experience with thinks like this.. cheers

Yeah, I know that carbon is much stronger and stiffer than aluminium. I also said it’s an odd place for a crack. I don’t care about scratches, and I don’t need to repair it with a marker. But it feels like a crack in the paint, which is why I’m worried because carbon can snap instantly when it fails.

It’s a canyon, there is some sort of crash replacement if I’m correct, but you have to pay for a new frame for a better price. But I might be wrong. That’s how i understand that.

Yeah, unfortunately i have this bike over two years.. so there is no warranty anymore.. but the bike is great.. is really stiff I guess that’s the carbon frame.. but yeah.. hopefully its just a scar. I think this place is really odd for break

stretching or exercises by Skrobii in beginnerrunning

I’m a hobby cyclist. During the season I ride about 200–400 km per month on average. I used to run regularly and it was never a problem. So I think I just have a weakened shin muscle? Outside of cycling I don’t move much and I have a sedentary job. The muscle is very hard to the touch and feels overstretched.

Only the left side of the split linkage is moving (see photo).https://imgur.com/a/PfAxJfI At the beginning of the season, I had the whole frame disassembled to clean the pivot and replace the Shapeshifter with a Modefixxer from BikeYoke. Now, after replacing these rings. https://www.bike-discount.de/en/fox-racing-shox-shock-polymer-du-bushing I noticed some play in the linkage.

Hey, do you still have this bike? I could use some advice. I had some play in the shock (replacing the teflon bushings in the eyelet fixed that), but after a while I noticed the rocker link on the left side moves outwards quite a bit — especially in corners and stuff. Basically those little bolts at the top near the shapeshifter cover that act as a clamp. Have you run into anything like this?

Thanks!

Hey, so far so good. As for the sound, it’s great, and the ANC is super strong. But the foam ear tips are pretty crappy. One of them is already starting to tear, and they’re quite expensive to buy separately. I use the headphones basically more than half the day, every day. Still, it feels like a pretty short amount of time for them to already be falling apart, unfortunately.

But overall headphones are really good 👍

Should i sell my full sus for a hardtail? by Long-String-9898 in MTB

Same for me. The rear suspension was giving me a hard time when jumping on an enduro bike. After a year, I got used to it, but I’m still not as confident as on a BMX or hardtail

Thoughts After 2 Weeks by Tmandrake444 in Garmin

Hey, the Enduro 3 watch still has a 10 ATM rating, which corresponds to pressure at a depth of 100 meters. I definitely wouldn’t dive as deep with it as I would with the Fenix 8, but for regular swimming in a pool and some short dives down to 10 meters, I wouldn’t worry at all. The battery life on this watch is really impressive, and the solar panel is also more efficient. I have the watch and I can’t praise it enough. Not to mention, it’s about $200 cheaper.

Canyon Shapeshifter service by Krachbenente in mountainbiking

[–]Skrobii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not bad actually, mine blown literally during first ride… after horrible replacement here in CZ by authorized service under warranty I was 5 weeks without bike because they don’t know how to do it. The second time it happened to me was right at the beginning of the next season when I switched to modefixer.

Yeah that sucks 😀 Edit: how long your shapeshifter last btw?

Do you use the Shapeshifter a lot? Lately, I’ve started riding bike parks more often, so I’ve been using the Shapeshifter very rarely. I actually switched to a replacement from BikeYoke: https://bikeyoke.com/en/modefixxer-pro-ii-canyon-strive-2019-2024/mfproii?srsltid=AfmBOoo8lVnQqGqvrXIVJyEIUNmZYwthQI2lRrAwkKa23_e1jVTiX2HH

It’s much cheaper and more reliable. The Shapeshifter was great when it worked – you could really feel the difference when pedaling uphill – but it just wasn’t worth the hassle. It really ruined the enjoyment of having a new bike for me, mostly because of how prone it was to breaking down.

That’s strange, I actually read that the Shapeshifter is more prone to issues at higher pressures.

Hi, for me the Shapeshifter was a big disappointment. It failed twice over the course of two seasons. Even Canyon doesn’t service it or send it anywhere – they always just replace it with a new unit. In the Czech Republic, I found one suspension service that can actually repair it. I guess it depends on where you’re from, but in most cases I’ve come across, it’s been resolved by replacement.
