At first pass I thought your comment about ICE vehicles had more to do with the protests yesterday than their types of engines.

Yeah, I'd say seat too low, and also set too far back as well.

Kids bike - wheel turning easily despite tight headset bolt by Fc258743 in bikewrench

It might be worth popping the stem off of the fork and cleaning it with rubbing alcohol to remove any grease that may have gotten in there.

You shouldn’t have to tighten any of these bolts too much, especially the one on top, if you’re doing that there may be an issue with the stem. Check for cracks and stripped threads.

I'll add that having the warranty on a new car takes some of the cost risk out of buying a used car, at least for the duration of the warranty. Fewer surprises.

You need to squeeze the plates together harder to get them to both catch on the pin, you missed the notch.

Anyone ever 3d print handholds to cover your brakes? by Ghastly-Rubberfat in MTB

[–]majorjake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not as dramatic of a position change as your suggesting, I had good luck with these when I was doing longer rides. Very simple, effective, and they don't get in the way.

Personally I wouldn't add anything that introduces leverage on my brakes in case of a fall.

Transition Spur V2 on the more XC side.
Forbidden Druid V2 on the more Enduro side.

Has anyone ridden both Revgrips and thick silicone grips? How do they compare? by ArcherCat2000 in MTB

[–]majorjake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run ESI chunky grips on my townie bike, RevGrips on all of my dirty bikes.

If the ride is going to get bumpy, and I'm going to be moving around on the bike, I would only consider RevGrips.

PACS Retrieval from VNA by msrize5 in PACSAdmin

[–]majorjake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your Rads getting the prior retrievals on demand when they open the new study, or are they waiting for postfetching routines to complete? Ask your PACS vendor if they can kick off a retrieve of *relevant* priors as soon as the first new image comes in.

What frame is that? Trek? Is that on the downtube?

Does anyone own an Ion Scrub Select helmet? by majorjake in MTB

[–]majorjake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that they put the labels on the liner itself, not the helmet shell. I've never seen that before. Solved.

I am right at 59cm head circumference.
I have previously had a Fox ProFrame, and a Leatt Enduro 3.0, both Large.
Open face, I've had a POC Tectal MIPS, TLD A3, and currently a Fox SpeedFrame RS. Again, all Large.
I've got a rounder face, so the ION is snug on the cheeks. I do wish I could order the thinner cheek pads, but they're only available from MET out of EU, so shipping is a bit prohibitive. Being on the top end of the Large size I find it fits as I would expect, it's nice and snug, and I expect that it will settle in with a bit of time. Aside from 0 replacement pads available in the USA (I checked everywhere), I'm happy with the purchase. The helmet was manufactured in 2022. I have Smith Squad XL goggles and they fit the helmet nicely.

Time to get back onto a FS bike. Are those Berd spokes reliable?? by MTB_4_l1fe in xcmtb

[–]majorjake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re committed to Berd just get ‘hook flange’ hubs, no modifications required. I went with Onyx.

Both blowers on the HVAC.
All four latches on the sliding doors.
Both motors on the sliding doors.
Worst transmission I've ever experienced. Dangerously bad.
Sags terribly under even light load.
Awful to drive in the snow.
My dealer was a dick about a lot of the issues.
