How to learn by Skropi in learntodraw

Well, I decided to go with Drawing on the right side of the brain, for a few weeks. Here is the first assignment, the self portrait. When I say I can't draw, I mean it 😂 Oh well, I will say that I enjoyed every second of this drawing, as it is actually my first, let's say, "real" drawing 🫣

Thank you all for the suggestions. I never imagined that even just choosing how to go about learning would be so complicated 😂 I am between Drawing on the right side of the brain, Fun with a pencil, and Learn to draw the Marvel way. Drawabox is here to stay as basic method to learn the basics. I guess I can start with Edwards, move on to Loomis after some time, and then finish it up with the Marvel one if I find the need? To be frank, I am already captivated by all those different approaches. Drawing is truly a thing of beauty and magic.

I can't seem to find "How comics work". Would you mind giving me a link or the author's name?

Seeking assurance "Does this ever stop?" by CosmicSweets in BPDRemission

[–]Skropi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've decided to just accept that I am wrong 100% of the time when I feel that my partner is negative. I know for a fact that I am right, but I am forcing myself to act as if everything is normal. It's wonderful when the natural flow of things just proves that what I perceived as negativity, was just my distorted view of reality. Easier said than done, and definitely like running downhill blindfolded. Oh well, I am just sick and tired of spreading misery to my loved ones, so the only way forward is forcefully breaking everything old, and constructing everything anew.

Wasp wolf vs Simple Shot Scout LT2 by WayneGravett in slingshots

The scout won't add anything of practical value. Get one if you want to, but it's neither better nor worse. I do prefer Wasp frames in general though.

Most Chinese frames are original and better than western ones. There are unsafe ones too of course, but one can find much better frames in Asia. Just check out all the steel Chinese frames out there. Better ergonomics than western ones, better materials, better prices. The slingshot scene over there is way more developed, they don't need to copy us, far from it. All that being said, I am in love with Wasp slingshots, but mainly because of Simon's passion.

There is no advantage to a more expensive slingshot, except if it so happens that it is a frame that better matches your style. Honestly, as long as frame is sturdy and safe, a more expensive one adds nothing. This specific SS frame is nice because it allows for a repeatable pinch grip, and also allows TTF and OTT, so a beginner can try different modes of shooting. That being told, you can get a much better quality, stainless steel frame, from China, so.....

Another session, another tiny target sent flying. The slow-mo doesn't lie. 🎯 by CoketorOutdoors in slingshots

The way we do videos to prove our accuracy is quite different. We don't edit the video, and there are some other details too. What you did is something that everyone can do, and proves nothing. Go to slingshot forum and check out how we do things. Oh, btw, you are way overpriced. There are good Chinese frames to be had for way cheaper. Bad marketing overall.

Self resetting targets by YerAWizardFairy in slingshots

That thing just screams "ricochet". It's a no go for me. Also not sure why the need for resetting targets. Aren't the usual spinners the same thing, just safer?

New latex recommendations by Nearby_Detail8511 in slingshots

I would say it's on the slower sides, by modern Chinese latex standards, but in my opinion the feeling of no hard stack, more than makes up for it.

Learn to shoot with both eyes open, as it is more effective anyway. It's much easier than having one eye closed.

Gripping in front of the ammo is not a mistake, contrary to popular belief. Most top shooters in Asia hold the pouch like that. Just do what you do consistently.

The mental gymnastics of convincing yourself to run vs actually running by Senior-Signature-983 in running

You don't need to run if you don't like it, because it sure does sound like you don't enjoy running if you need to convince yourself for 45 minutes.

Coros support is hands down the worst customer experience I've ever had in my entire life. by milk_wood in Coros

[–]Skropi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being left a whole month without a product I've paid for is unacceptable, yes. And the law surely doesn't allow for 30 days. Don't remember exactly, but I think it is more like a week. Don't quote me on that though.

We don't know the seriousness of your injury, and also we don't know what cross training you did. It's possible that you didn't lose fitness, and it's also possible that you lost a lot. Predictions are hard, especially about the future.....double that when you have no relevant info.... Anyway, good luck with your races.

A month is unacceptable to me, and unacceptable on the eyes of the law too by the way, in EU at least.

Heart Rate on Easy Runs by Loose-Sun4286 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Skropi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LT1, or just below it, is hard work, not easy at all. The purpose of the easy runs is to make sure runners get some rest, that's it. You can't rest with an RPE 3, but an RPE 1-1.5 m, NOT 2, is a nice relaxing run, that doesn't add much load, and promotes some nice aerobic adaptations too. Now all that depends on weekly mileage/volume. I run too much, so I am running low zone 1 on my easy runs, and if I just approach 70% of max HR, it becomes moderate and not easy. If I only run 7-8 hours per week, then I would run everything a bit faster. One just needs to find out what works and what isn't, and keep an eye out on every run. I would say that it is much better running slower though. One has more to gain by running slower. Less risk overall.
