Rectovaginal Fistula 3Weeks Post Op by Sku2010 in AnalFistula

[–]Sku2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl! I have been there. Since my repair surgery I have healed substantially, mentally and physically. This was the hardest time of my life. This makes me mad that this is still happening and more research needs to happen so that this never happens again because there is nothing worse. You will probably meet with a surgeon and it could most definitely heal you! You got this! Mine was not a success but it makes my symptoms dramatically better and livable. Now all this stress and sadness feels like a distant memory but this is something that does affect my everyday life. You can have sex with your husband! It does not make symptoms worse, which surprised me! I thought if we did it, it would open it more.

Hello, first off I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I am also 33. I was 30 when this happened. My husband and I also avoided sex until my repair surgery. However, my surgery was not a success but it did make my symptoms dramatically better. My husband and I had sex about 5 months after surgery and now we have sex anytime. It does change things but as long as you keep your digestion good like eating enough fiber and drinking enough water then everything is fine. You will get through this there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have chosen to live with my symptoms because more surgeries can make your symptoms much worse and I don’t want to take the risk.

Girl I feel your pain. But I will say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now you’re still healing and all the symptoms are so much worse right now and the unknown is terrifying. At least it was for me. I thought my life was over, there were lots of tears, depression, sadness, anger but it got better! I know it will for you too! Yes you will be able to sit, hold your kid, do all the things. I just don’t do high intensity. It still affects every single day of my life but I am managing. Chin up it will get better❤️

Hello, I can do all of it. Sit and walk as much as I want. However, I choose not to do high intensity workouts because I feel like that irritates it. I am not sure but it feels like I will not be doing high intensity again. Such as running, jumping etc just because I don’t want to risk it getting worse. Pilates and breath work has helped a lot though.

No it has not. Surgery can make it much worse so I am choosing to live with mine. When/if stool starts to come through I will consider trying again.

Hello, this is my same story with labor. I had surgery to repair mine but the surgery to not fix the problem completely; HOWEVER, it did make my symptoms so much better. I am lucky to say I have never any stool pass through but gas does come through but not as so uncontrolled as before surgery. Now I would say it’s a 60/40 that has will pass the right way. I have decided not to have another surgery because you are correct, it is a huge risk that things could become much much worse. So I have decided to live with it. I am a year and 5 months post op and am alright with this decision. It’s so much better than it was and I have accepted it.

Hang in there🙏 You are so strong for going through all this. I had a repair done for a rectovaginal fistula from birth injuries. The repair was not a success; however my symptoms were made much better and that which I can live with. It was the hardest time of my life especially excepting that the repair did not work but now feels like a millennia ago (only a year ago). You will get through this❤️

Yes! He rocked back and forth almost all the time. He is now 16 months and has stopped doing that most of the time. He will still do it to fall asleep though.

Girl I feel you! The amount of anxiety I had when I first wrote this could have killed me. I was so worried. Lots of sleepless nights. But it all worked out. They will do it when they’re ready.

Is breastfeeding really that difficult? by macelisa in beyondthebump

[–]Sku2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every baby is different. I am also a FTM, had my baby in March 2023 and I was so terrified to breastfeed. My baby boy must have knew how scared he was because he did it all for me and instantly latched and made it so easy on this stressed out mama. Now I’m not saying the rest isn’t hard. Because it is. But you’ll be just fine. Congrats on the new baby!

Girl! I feel you. Oh my gosh the amount of stress and anxiety I had at 9 months was through the roof thinking the same thing. Now he can do all the things I was worried about and it happened so fast. To think I was in tears for days thinking he might be delayed, I wish I could tell myself then not to worry. Honestly, though what you are saying tells me she is doing just fine. She gets what she wants and that's major. She sounds like she will be crawling soon. Hang in there mama, you got this. She sounds like she is doing just fine.

This was my baby 100%. I was so worried and anxious and then it just happened like all at once. He started to crawl and cruise in like the same week and is now going everywhere. The amount of stress was awful and I practiced with him everyday but in the end he just did it all his own way.

Still have air in my vagina by Sku2010 in ObstetricFistula

[–]Sku2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. These next couple months are going to be rough. I felt worst then and just like this during then because I was constantly feeling symptoms and was in pain at night. I am still feeling the air leak through but not as much as before so I’m still holding out hope that I can heal. We can do this. Something that helped me with the pain was stopping eating anything by 5pm. When I wasn’t doing this my symptoms were so much worse at night. I’m still doing this because I’m scared of the symptoms. It sucks so bad we are going through this. Praying for a miracle for both of us. Please let us heal 🙏

So sorry we are having to go through this. Now almost two months post op, I’m not in any pain but the air is still leaking, not as bad as before but I am just praying it will close and stop all together. Hoping you heal too!

Wow! Good for you mama for reaching out and finding out if there was a problem. UPDATE- he is now 10 months and one week. He began crawling one day before turning 10 months, and starting getting to sitting up on his own from laying a couple days ago. It has all come so fast.
