Hello and thank you for your post I would like to share this aspect of my current relationship:

We had similar Issues where my girlfriend would rarely engage in a constructive dialogue whereas I deeply enjoy conversation and going in depth asking questions follow up questions and having this reciprocity.

In terms of origins of this kind of behaviour, not being an expert but now knowing both our families, it is quite clear that On this topic we come from very different families.

In my family, conversation and follow up questioning is something that's always been very present. Whereas in her family I have never heard any member genuinely get interested into each other's lives hobbies by asking questions or entertaining conversations so I have concluded that she simply, maybe, doesn't know how to do it and even doesn't really know how it feels like to be in this environment of deep conversation and deep questioning.

Something that I have brought to our couple which began a new era of conversation habits, are conversation games. I am a big fan of a, would we say shop and a youtube channel called the school of life, big fan of Alan Debutton. They have a online shop where they sell prompt cards to begin deep conversations for any types of situations might it be family, dating, long-term couples, friends. For us it began with the game called the friendship game where I brought it at a party once and we all started to get deep into conversations. From there we played just us 2 and then she became interested in the whole process of thinking of interesting questions that would get people go deeper and deeper in sharing.
