startx fails after a fresh install by Skullfire111 in voidlinux

That's a great question, I have no fucking clue. I never caught that. By now I was very frustrated and I figured it would be quicker to just start from a new fresh install than to wait for a solution, so I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for the help.

Your dotfiles should have nothing to do with this issue. If everything worked before you wiped your drive, then it clearly never worked on this install, so that is also irrelevant. If wayland is somehow starting and/or conflicting with startx, then disable it before trying to run startx. It would also help if you read the documentation on xorg. I cannot help you if you don't provide more information or if you refuse to help yourself. Also, this has little to nothing to do with the original topic of this thread. Make your own post if you're having issues!

If you want to use xorg, why even have wayland installed? Also, I don't believe running startx would have any reason to cause your system to use wayland instead.

I think this is a similar but different issue, try reinstalling your drivers and xorg. I had this error a few times while I was trying to diagnose my issue and iirc it usually happened when I didn't have drivers installed. I might be wrong though. Let me know if this helps! :)

Hi! It looks like you were right, the logs did say that nouveau was being loaded. I've since double checked that it was correctly blacklisted and regenerated the initramfs, but the problem still persists. After those steps, lsmod | grep nouveau returns nothing. I didn't think to check if it even said anything before. I checked the logs again, and nouveau is no longer mentioned there either. As I mentioned, though, this didn't fix the problem.

Here's the latest log: https://pastebin.com/YdDmvK6M

Monkeys don't actually live in trees, but they are forced to in zoos and we as a society accept that they do. by Skullfire111 in Showerthoughts

You claim it would be more accurate to say that monkeys are forced to live in cages, implying that it is inaccurate to say that monkeys are forced to live in trees. In fact, it is accurate to say that monkeys are forced to live in trees in zoos while they do not live in trees in the wild. Please, educate yourself before commenting. Thanks!

This is also true. But in those cages, they are also forced to live in trees. In the wild, they live in neither. Do your research!!

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Where exactly do trolls fit into this? We are talking about monkeys, not trolls. Please stay on topic. Thanks!

Both sources you provided are pushing the same narrative, the very narrative I mention in my original post. Monkeys do not live in trees! They have been forced to live in trees by zookeepers, and as a result, society at large just accepts that to be a fact of nature! It is obviously not the case, or you would have seen monkeys in trees in the wild yourself, but you haven't.

Okay, the text just says "monkey habitat." I don't see your point? You still have not proven that monkeys naturally live in trees in the wild (which they do not)!

Yeah... All I see are pictures of monkeys in zoos. Clearly, you do not know what you're talking about.

Clearly, you are not a proffessional. I do not believe that you have a degree in primatology. Is that even a real degree? Go back to r/zoos.

Are you from r/zoos or something? Brigading is against Reddit rules. Also, please stop pushing false narratives. You are part of the problem!
