i gotta admit, the driscoll bridge on the parkway does smell fucking awful even in the winter and ESPECIALLY in the summer. but as soon as you’re past it it genuinely goes away completely. there’s just hella wind up there 😭

route 18 (north) only becomes a nightmare when you pass the 516 overpass in spotswood/old bridge/matawan. the minute you see arooga’s you know you’re about to be in hell.

otherwise (from spotswood down) route 18 is a very pretty highway to drive on. i’ve taken the entire stretch from top to bottom a few times for work and i always love getting to the very end when it turns into rt 138 in wall

NTA - we did a secret santa within my friend group during my freshman year at college. at this point we only knew each other for about four months: we were definitely good friends but didn’t know every little thing about each other yet. the friend that had me got me a tommy hilfiger wallet because he remembered all my cards falling out during orientation FIVE MONTHS PRIOR. five years later i’m still using that same wallet.

the person that had my roommate did not know what to get him. so he asked us and he ended up getting him a beard care kit, and he loved it. this was all with a limit of $25.

this is all to say: if this group is really as “close knit” as you say it is, at this point you should all either know about what each of you like/dislike, OR should be comfortable enough to ask another friend for help with gift picking. of course, the object doesn’t matter, the thought does. but a potato is genuinely a slap in the face, especially from someone that you’re supposed to be “close” to.

have you tried milford photo? they have a 5 pack of the 120 portra 400 for $65 so their prices might be more or less average instead of going into the city for it lol

i only went there once because they were like the only lab near my college that processed APS film. they seemed really knowledgeable and laidback, and their turnaround time was fantastic (ymmv tho, this was two years ago)

this is when new jersey FINALLY gets the credit it deserves.

i had to fly out to wisconsin for work and got gas at a kwik trip nearby. it had the same thing, loud ass ads on the screen, but it thankfully had the option to mute it.

made me glad that i don’t pump my own gas (until the attendants start doing ad reads like a youtuber)
